BP appears to have had enough of its embattled CEO, and are sending him to the Russian front -- literally.

The oil giant's chief executive, Tony Hayward, will step down from BP's top post in October and take a job with TNK-BP, the company's joint venture in Russia, Sky News reported Monday.

I like Hayward...it takes brass ones to stand up and be all cheeky to Congress like he did. Bad PR but great live TV.  =D

Why do people invest in Russia? Have they not learned from Sahalin-2?

Sorry, but I did not think that he stood up at all to Congress.

Most of his answers were 'I don't know', 'I was not involved', I did not make that decision' or 'I am not an engineer'.

My impression from watching was that if he was truthful, he had no idea what was going on in his own company.

In the end he was responsible for the company,  but was too worried about lawyering up.

From what I saw (not everything of course) He basically refused to take sole responsibility for the disaster even though Congress kept hammering at him--and the Dems HATED him for it. The vibe I got from the left was "how dare you walk into the hallowed halls of Socialism and not regret your corporate existence." Hayward was dignified but not arrogant, and humble but not humiliated.
