Two more letters to the editor

These are so priceless that I just have to post them here. No links. Just read em' and weep (for our country):

Socialism is not taking over country

After reading Beth Pinter's letter to the editor, I felt I just had to make a few comments (Opinions, Nov. 21).

The "socialism" that she declared is taking over our country is very much a misnomer. "Socialism" is defined as a system of social organization by which the means of production and distribution are owned by the government or by associations of workers. This is hardly what is going on in America today.

A more reasonable name for our current state of affairs is "oligarchy," a system whereby the many are controlled by the few. The extremely wealthy class, small in numbers but very large in dollars, holds enough money to buy any kind of government that it wants, though not necessarily in the best interest of the country as a whole.

Looking around today at the number of homes falling into foreclosure, the exportation of jobs to countries where the labor is cheap, the numbers of jobless workers rising as the welfare rolls are growing longer, one can easily see which way we are headed as a nation, and it is not a "socialistic" state.

I would also like to point out that this is the sort of situation that fomented revolutions across Western Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries. The working masses were pushed to the tipping point until they finally pushed back. This is the warning I would issue to America today.

When is enough, enough?

Time for legislators to wake up

Legislators, unite! Tell the rich monarchs you don't want their money. Tell them you want to serve all the people. Tell them they will be safer in a sane world where all people have equality in every aspect of society. And tell the wealthy that our society can be and must be sane in order to survive.

And most important, recognize that lust after extreme wealth is a bona fide illness that we must now recognize. Time to dare to awaken and use your heart to pull your mind out of the gilded closet! Lust after money/wealth ruins society and our environment at all levels. We have to end this obsession and re-establish our society as a living, breathing human community.

The time is getting late and it's time to rip the obsessive facade off and realize we are all one race of beings who at heart care about each individual in the same way our bodies care for every cell in our bodies. Time to dare to begin to love our whole world as we love ourselves!

I dare you to imagine our society much closer to perfect, where rich and poor unite behind our wonderful human imagination and suffering and mental illness are at a minimum. Rich, poor, legislators unite in a heartfelt society. This is the historic time for our human body to unite. There is no other option.

Miss Mittelstadt is scaring me with her talk of "pushing back". It almost sounds like time for the guillotine. Maybe it's time to break out the guns on our side and defend the homefronts.

And wealth is now an illness? How do I catch it? Can I get some rich people to sneeze when I'm nearby or something?

What was that about a pearl handled revolver and someone from New Orleans again?

Screw it: just autoclave the planet (thanks Birdman)

This is the lie of progressivism. People put themselves first. Only Jesus and a few saints throughout history loved others more than themselves. People can say they do, but they don't. It's just human nature.

I was waiting for that ahole to start in on Lennon's "Imagine", as he was starting to steal the lyrics anyway. At least Lennon made himself millions with such claptrap. This guy's just a schlemiel.

While I could agree that some people want to be oligarchs, as usual the liberal can't seem to see anyone but "rich" people.

That 2nd one wants rich people and poor people to work together.  He apparently hasn't been around very many poor people (or rich I'd guess).
