I think every single gun owner in Austin should call and report... themselves. A few hundred thousand phone calls clogging up the works might get the point across.

Isn't Austin essentially Portland with worse weather and bigger hats?

Sure. Better Tex-Mex, though, I'm guessing.

Austin is probably drier and sunnier.  Better is a matter of opinion.

When I saw the thread title, I figured it must be one of the big city police chiefs.  No one else would be that stupid.

I think a bunch of Texans should call the number to report a suspicious gun owner, and when they ask for the name, say, "Art Acevedo".

Meh, he did say (to paraphrase) "Is a gun-nut AND is expressing anger/hatred or "Why I oughtta..."-type thoughts."

As a gun-nut myself, I wouldn't want to be associated with someone like that, even if only because it's lousy OPSEC.  ;)

But as noted, he's still an epic *expletive deleted*bag of a CLEO for a whole host of other reasons already, but this particular thing isn't really getting my dander up.
I promise not to duck.

And the lake is WAY below full right now, thanks to the drought . . . the "sometimes islands" are now mostly peninsulas.

Well, the good news is that people are 55-65% water, even the "wierd" ones in Austin. So there is that.
I promise not to duck.

Police chief needs to post his home address so gun owners know where to go when its time to turn in their guns.
