Austin is probably drier and sunnier.  Better is a matter of opinion.

When I saw the thread title, I figured it must be one of the big city police chiefs.  No one else would be that stupid.

As a gun-nut myself, I wouldn't want to be associated with someone like that, even if only because it's lousy OPSEC.  ;)
