Title: Reasons for commitment to an insane asylum

Interesting how times have changed isn't it? Also worth pondering: after the NRA gets their way and we can lose our 2A rights for "mental health" problems, the list of reasons for admission will have lots of things like "paranoid, because he feels the need to conceal carry a gun for protection" and "delusional, because he denies global warming."

Sign me up for 'over taxing mental powers'.  That would explain so much.

Caused by 31 years of marriage.

I wonder why SALVATION ARMY made the list?

I guess the real question would be:  What percentage of the US population would fall into one or more of those categories?  I'd wager it is quite a few.

"Marriage of Son." But don't let him get married.

"Menstrual Derangement". I like their term for PMS.

"Politics" "Immoral Life" "Egotism" "Bad Habits & Political Excitement"

.... I think we need to bring these back. We could clear all of Washington out in a day.

This sounds like a list of things that were written in a blank on a form  =|

Ironic that "False Confinement" would be a reason for confinement  ;/

The 30 years one was impressive.

Is that one session?  Even I don't have that kind of stamina.

Although "deranged masturbation" does raise some odd questions too.

You could also interpret that as "failure to perform"

It sounds like these are things that have lead to confinement. For example, it's not shooting your daughter will cause you to be confined, but do to the mental stress it could eventually cause you to go crazy. Like these are reasons people gave.

You know, that is an excellent point I had not thought of. Thanks for bringing it up.

I wonder why SALVATION ARMY made the list?

Maybe they're the ones that found a crazy guy and turned him in, as it was the kindest thing they could do at the time?

Also, it says admission, not commitment.  The latter is where you're forced to be there...
