Seriously, folks, it is as if the fate of the world hangs on the outcome of this balloting.

Or you will get a massive headache from all the facepalms you do reading the names.

But go vote.  Vote early and vote often.  Maybe the winner will win something?

stay safe.

If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

Hey you kids!! Get off my lawn!!!

looks like a character list for a really bad fantasy novel.

I liked the comments about how 'Breezi Lei' will end up working the pole, with a name like that.

What language are those names?

I have done my part.  Na'Mahnie Tre'nea is clearly the best one because spellcheck gives up completely on it.

And to be fair, I will back down instantly and publicly apologize to the child, in person, as soon as someone shows me a reference anywhere in history in any language that indicates this is a real name and not a string of syllables that the mother threw together.

I would have thought Darwin would have made that a dead language.

I wonder if parents think about the future of their children. Names like them usually cause a resume to go straight to file 13.

How many of those parents do you think are employed? How many of their children will be employed, in a capacity other than making license plates for flying cars in the future?

This is what happens when you feed a bag of scrabble letters to the dog and allow it to 'produce' the name.

This is so true..

I had a Milwaukee cop tell me some names of people arrested...  Le'mon Jelo and his brother Oranjelo, then there was the lady Va' gina (g=h sound).  All you can do is shake your head.  One day I was joking around with my wife and came up with La'trina.

When I first saw the list, with all the consonants and apostrophes, I wondered if it was Hawaiian, Samoan, or some other South Pacific islands language.

American Coon ass, AKA Cajun.

It appears there is a growing segment of American society who should be permanently enjoined from the use of apostrophes.

I thought Cajun was Creole French. Those names are NOT Creole French.

From the always-authoritative Wikipedia:

Quote
Cajuns (play /ˈkeɪdʒən/; French: les Cadiens or les Acadiens, [le kadjɛ̃, lez‿akadjɛ̃]) are an ethnic group mainly living in the U.S. state of Louisiana, consisting of the descendants of Acadian exiles (French-speakers from Acadia in what are now the Canadian Maritimes). Today, the Cajuns make up a significant portion of south Louisiana's population, and have exerted an enormous impact on the state's culture.[1]

No, those names are not Cajun.  Names like that come from the darker complexion population.  Bill Cosby had some real good comments on modern names.

Nah.....Creole is more your urban, upper-class, French-&-African-descended types.....Cajuns are more French-descended swamp-dweller types....kinda like the difference b/t city slickers & country folk....
