Solution to illegal immigration!

Every illegal immigrant that is apprehended is immedietely impressed into the Marine Corp, Army, Navy, Air Force, or Coast Guard for a period of 4 years.

In that way, one earns the right to be an American.  Four years of learning english, some American history and the value of being free by providing the strength of arms that guarantees that freedom.

We'll either have the worlds largest and most dedicated military or the immigrants would cease to come here illegally.

But would the military want them?  I've run into lots of illegal-immigrant gang members, drug smugglers, etc.  I should think they're the last sort of person the military would want.

They're not worth feeding and housing IMO.  They don't even speak English. How are you going to train them to be a fighting force?

Isn't that the very sort of pressed-service approach that rendered the Soviet military into a whole lot of incompetents following a minority of professional soldiers?

Sigh....we're just too civilized to solve our immigration problem.  A proper boot camp would sort the wheat from the chaff.  If an illegal is bold enough to try and come here, he probably can be made into a proper soldier given the right motivation, and the citizenry had the stomach for it.

At least we would be being pro active about the problem rather than just talking and whining about it.

Divert a couple billion a year from the lines of grafters and grifters, hire 50,000 border patrolmen, 24 to the square mile, give em a each a HummVee and impress whoever they catch into a chain gang to build a 40 foot high fence along the border, first down south, then up north.  Toss em back over when the fence is done.  Not feeling too compassionate today.  Just read a great novel about Rome.

YIKES! Lets give guns to criminals with no allegiance to the United States ... train them in the use of said guns and turn them loose.

Despite the myth the pro-illegal movement would have you believe, most illegals are NOT honest, hard working folk just "looking for a brighter tomorrow" ... most are hardened criminals who come here to take advantage of better victims then they can otherwise find in their homeland ... or they are here delivering drugs.

We should just give unconditional citizenship to anyone who joins the marines willingly and does their minimum four years.

We already do that ... come to this country legally and do a tour in our military and you're put on the fast track to citizenship.
