Wow...

When I started driving in 1981, I remember paying 85 cents a gallon.

It didn't really go over $1 a gallon consistently until the Exxon Valdez went aground in 1989.

I remember the 1980's as pretty much 1.14-1.17 where I grew up (SE Iowa), except for 1988 where is was under a buck. Shot up to $1.40 with the invasion of Kuwait/Gulf War I then settled back down to $1.14-1.20, then under a buck again in 1997.

Pennsylvania, at the time I was there, seemed to have pretty low gas prices.

I do remember Iraq invading Kuwait, and the effect it had on gas prices...

I was moving from Lewistown, PA, to Washington, DC, that exact week.

Every time I passed gas stations both in Lewistown and in DC, the price had gone up.

Here in Tulsa it is $1.41 and up.

Going to Amarillo this weekend.  Hope it drops another few cents between now and Friday.

We may have seen the last of dips in the price of a gallon for awhile.

Oil is pushing back up hard right now in anticipation of OPEC's meeting next week. Plus, the dollar is weakening, making oil more attractive.

Yesterday, gas was around $1.50.  This morning it is listed at $1.75.  What gives?  Maybe just weekend gouging for the snowmobilers headed north?

I drove home last night from the monthly meeting at the gun club and I noticed that fuel was $1.49 a gallon. I don't drive past any filling stations on my way to work so I don't know if it raised overnight or not.

Oil prices are up some 20% recently, from roughly $40/barrel to $48/barrel.  That may or may not have something to do with the slight bump in gas prices lately.

$1.32 here in Denver, stayed the same over the past three days now. No one wants to drop it any more, it seems - prices are lower than what my folks saw back in the early 1980s!

We're still stuck in the 1.60s here in Fairfax, Virginia, but there are a couple of places that have crept into the 150s.

$1.40's down here in the hood.

Went to Deltaville  yesterday, it was $1.55 the entire way.
Put 30 gallons of prem. in the boat for less than $60.....

After a week of no movement at around 1.65 prices at some stations have now moved to sub 1.60 with ARCO dropping twice in one day down to 1.55.

$1.65 out at the I-5 Arco.  Just a .04 drop in the last week.  It appears to be slowing.

Yup.

It is taking awhile for the others to migrate down to the ARCO's price.

Safeway is usually a penny more than ARCO but they are still +9 cents as of this evening.

For a while one 76 was the low price leader when it usually is one of the more exspensive places. At one point it was 15 cents under the average, but the owners don't seem to want to keep that going. Too bad.
