Anyone who knows more about Parkinson's want to chime in?
Ironically many say Hitler had Parkinson's as well.
Got diagnosed with PD at 38. I see absolutely nothing Parkinsonian about his movements. The sped up version kinda looks like it, but at normal speeds nothing about the video says PD.
There a 4 “cardinal” symptoms of PD. Bradykinesia (slowness of movement, typically unilateral at early stages, bilateral when advanced). Resting tremor (so a tremor, most common in the fingers, starts on one side, eventually involves more of the body and becomes bilateral but one side is always worse). Rigidity (most common is so called cogwheel rigidity typically in ankles, knees, wrists and elbows). Postural instability (uncommon at early stages, basically when standing if pushed or pulled by the shoulders balance can’t be regained).
All of the finger and foot movements from Putin were not tremors. Fidgeting would be a better description. He looks more nauseous than anything. Whether from a vodka bender or chemotherapy/radiation therapy or something else is impossible to say from here.
Lots of theories about Hitler. Tertiary syphilis and PD being big ones. Not sure about PD, not a lot of good videos to assess that. Some symptoms fit, but a lot don’t. Syphilis makes more sense, especially with the delusional behavior.
Other thing to point out is that Pd doesn’t kill you directly, and it’s quite possible to live with it for decades. What usually kills people with PD are things like aspiration pneumonia because they develop difficulty swallowing so they can aspirate food or drinks. Also heart attacks because their body has been too worn out by years of unstoppable movements. Also falls causing head injury or hip fractures are common causes of death. Dementia is a higher risk than the general population but most PD patients never develop dementia.
