Title: Lol, didn't expect that (kid's reading)
Post by: brimic on September 20, 2017, 09:35:29 PM
It's 8:30 pm, told my teenaged son to get ready for bed. He got up in a huff, flopped his book down and went to brush his teeth. I took a glance at what he was reading... it's TMIAHM.  >:D

That is DANGEROUS stuff for someone to read at such an impressionable age.  It puts to the question our very concepts of marriage, family, friendship, society and even government.

Not having read TMIAHM at least once is IMHO, a slighter more heinous display of a deeply flawed character than not having watched the entire Firefly/Serenity collection ( in one sitting).

TMIAHM is a gateway book.  But it leads to good places.  Well, if you think this place is.   :P

Given he's APS member spawn, how is anyone surprised he's reading sci-fi? Call us when he discovers real literature.  :P

I just recommend that he reads Starship Troopers before he gets around to Lazarus Long travelling back in time to screw his mom just before WWI.

Yea, RAH did let some of his more extreme story ideas run free later in life.

Better in my view, since it does tend to be more hard Science Fiction when compared to some of his other tales.  Not that they are not good tales in their own right.
