Title: Who needs the Keystone pipeline?

So Keystone may prove to be irrelevant, if the Canadians get their way.

It was inevitable. The Canadians have been really patient waiting for us, and I think have even turned down opportunities with others because they wanted to be good neighbors and partner with us. There's only so long they're gonna wait around, and I don't blame them one bit.

In the article, a good observation that many Canadians feel that the President threw the special relationship between the world's two largest trading partners under the bus to score environmental points.  Hard to see it any other way.

The man is absolutely worthless at everything else, but he is an expert at snubbing and insulting our allies.

What else would one expect from the Manchurian Candidate with the shadowy history, associates, supporters and mentors.

Who else needs the keystone pipeline?

Ask any farmer in North Dakota what it is like to screwed over because much of the rail is tied up in moving oil (paying a premium) and not moving grain.

http://www.ncgrain.com/  Prices at elevators in ND

http://www.shellsburgelevator.com/ Prices at a few elevators in Iowa.

Grain can't move out of the Dakotas by rail to the world markets. Probably happening in Canada in the wheat/corn regions also.

Guess who owns much of the rail road that serves the Dakota. Berkshire Hathaway, wonder why Warren Buffett is opposed to the pipeline?

Also, rail is very environmentally unfriendly for oil transport, both operationally and if there is a tanker car spill. With a pipeline, you have controls to immediately stop the flow between sections and mitigate damage. Rail car, you take your chances on where any incident might take place and I guess hope that there are sufficient HAZMAT services and access wherever it occurs for a quick cleanup. The pipeline would have some minimum of HAZMAT gear available pretty much along the whole length for fast response, and is the statistically safer transport method.

A lot of this was spelled out by the Canadian government, not exactly known internationally for their "anti-environmentalism". It just shows that the US enviros don't care about reducing the transportation pollution and increasing safety for the Canandian crude already being transported here. Agenda, yo.

Every day, I find it easier to see it as "Obama WANTS to harm and diminish the USA."
