The left gloats over leftist violence at protests.  The media calls Trump Hitler.  Sounds like someone was listening to them.

Feeling hopeless or out of power will certainly exacerbate it, but the Left has ALWAYS had the top rung of the leaderboard for body-count by orders of magnitude since the beginning of the 20th century, because it's ultimately an "ends justify the means" ideology.

This is because the Left is obsessed with the rights of groups. Which in of itself is a negative construct, and an oxymoron, because groups don't have rights. Only individual people do. Just like how we'll sometimes nitpick and tut-tut the nominal Right whenever assertions are made about States Rights, because there is no such thing as "states rights", states may or may not have "powers" but they don't have "rights".

But when you succumb to the pathology of that kind of thinking and group rights, almost any atrocity becomes possible. Because all you need to do is identify a larger needier group (in their minds at least) and any kind of deprivation, down to one's own life becomes acceptable in the name of "the greater good".

When you think the ends justify the means, you can get yourself thinking all sorts of actions are good.  

IMO, mainstream leftists have been getting more extreme in their statements and actions over the last year.  It makes sense to me that non-mainstream leftists might take it a bit further.  

I did hear a comment that the main reason men with guns were there to oppose the guy was that one of the Republicans had a security detail.

I think the other Congressmen said that only leadership travels with a security detail. The Majority Whip was the one shot in the hip.

I suppose it's lucky from the gun debate side, but overall, I think this should be a focus for a while. It may not have any affect on the far, far left, but I'd hope this would grab the attention of flyover dems and left-leaning people to see just how crazy some of their "representatives" in Berkeley, Hollywood, etc. have become.

I also sincerely hope, but doubt, it might cause people like Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi to ease off the "RESIST!" crap (I have zero hope for the Maxine Waters types).

One would think it should be just the opposite under a Trump admin and R majority.

I'll give them some leeway for postponing on the day of the incident, but to my mind, this should be a signal to push through for rights of self-protection. I think even the Rs that were on the field were saying "all we had were baseball bats", I think insinuating that more good guys with guns would have been a good thing.
