Venezuela Leads in Asylum Request to US

Like the title says.

With everything else going on in the news, Venezuela hasn't been talked about much. They're descent seems to be accelerating though. I read the other day that pets are no longer safe. Same with wild critters you would not normally think of as edible.

I think I'd almost rather live the life of a North Korean farmer than a Venezuelan city dweller at this point in time.

Even taking current travel restrictions and refugee stuff out of the equation, I don't know how open the US should be to accepting people who happily voted for their lot in hopes of free stuff from their government and their "evil rich". I'm thinking a majority of them will be EBT card holders in training. Though I'm sure there are also capitalist-oriented citizens who got caught in the whirlwind that are also looking to escape. Another reason for detailed vetting.

I try to take the same approach for residents of California. It would unfair of me to assume that a person is hippy liberal scum simply because they choose to live with a bunch of them.

Trump needs to push to close the door entirely,  not just to mid east shitholes.

I'd agree with shutting off all immigration until we get an iron clad plan for vetting immigrants, a sane green card policy, and our borders secured as best as humanly possible. 

As for deporting illegals:  If caught and they have a violent or gang affiliated criminal record the ruthless part of me says to take them 100 miles out to sea and drop 'em off.
