That used to be the default, but everyone was complaining about the lack of security, so we upgraded to https and security certificates.
and here we all are ... bypassing it
For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

I wondered if I could select APS (only) as acceptable in the Firewall settings, but none of the choices were specifically spelled out enough for me to feel confident about changing them.  (Win 7 64 bit).

Looks like it might be possible, though.  (I've been trapped in unrecoverable choices without doing a system restore before.)

Complaint from a PM to me; FYI:
"When I click on advance and then on the website at the bottom, the continue box pops up. So, click on that.  But still, I have to go through the whole process again if I wish to comment etc going forward."

Yes, as most of us seem to have to do.  It seems like whenever the software has to do any major switching around internally, it triggers a look-see at the certificate again and throws up the warning again.  Pain in the patootie, especially when editing a post, but we'll have tolive through it for a while until the certificate is re-instated

Terry

P.S. One of my major concerns is that relative newbies may not know how to "get in" in spite  of the problem and think APS went down permanently.   I'm sure some antis are prancing with joy at that thought.

Even pinging gives timeouts and 100% loss.

I've spoken to Oleg and we will work to migrate APS to a new host.  After doing so we should be able to resolve the certificate issue.

"APS did not kill itself"

Amusing, but makes you wonder if other antagonists are at work. (<Geriatric paranoia talking there.)< =D big grin added later.

This computer is Win. 7 (64 bit) with FF 97.0 and I also got that "exp. cert." warning tonight.  Yesterday, I was trying to get here using an older config. (XP Pro and the last FF update that worked with XP) but I didn't see a way around it.  At least, this system gave me the option to "go ahead".

If you want some help, I can carry a few boxes of floppies.

Floppies? That's their problem, they're using that new fangled stuff. Floppies will never last. I never had this problem with punch cards. Punch cards forever!

It's paper and pencil for me. My PDA is a pocket size wire bound note pad.

And cheap, too.

That has more memory capacity than the original floppy drives.

Well, you could save seven 100kb letters to the editor on a 720 floppy, or fourteen of them on a 1.44.  As opposed to  2.5 megs for each letter using Word.

'Course you'd have to dot-matrix or thermal them and surface mail them to the editors.  None of this click send stuff.

Anyone else using Chrome?

Since the APSocalypse, I've been using Chrome to access the site. (Usually use Brave). I've had very few problems.

i didn't get no darn old vaxx either, no more upgrades/vaxx's/masks if i have to click resubmission and advanced its what i do, the price i pay

Seems much faster now. Thanks to whomever took time to get us squared away.
