What Interesting, Non-Gun, Presents Did Santa Bring You?

With the except of my kidlet who logged somewhere more than 30 presents, (thanks to Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, God-Parents, etc., ALL of which needed some kind of assembly), Christmas was a bit sparse this year, due to me still looking for gainful employment.

However, wifey-poo came up with a pretty cool present, a collection of Ayn Rand, including:
The Fountainhead
We the Living
For the New Intellectual
The Virtue of Selfishness

and

The book the movie was based on:
Master and Commander

I'm thinking she believes I have too much time on my hands.  Shocked

Anybody in Michigan need a Fluid Power Expert / Advanced Mfg Engineer??

Santa brought me my snowshoes.  And an ice auger.  And this nifty little electronic 20 Questions game that has been consuming all my free time.

My pop got me a little hand crank dealie for my cell phone so I can charge it if I'm away from a wall or my car.

Could have come in handy on several deployments, now it's more just "cool".

Sweaters...from the kids. I picked them out and paid for them last month. SWMBO wrapped them up for Christmas.

Yo their credit, they do listen well. They've all gotten tired of me not being to find 'that (&$^@* 5/8 socket' so they all went in together and brought me a really nice set of Craftsman wrenches to augment the partial sets I've had for years.

In fact, I need to find bungee cords to keep the dang drawers in the cabinet. I just played 500+ pickup on the front porch while trying to come through the front door after doing the brakes on the pickup.  jfruser would have heard my ranting if he were home.

Best of all, I got my wife a new house. I knew she wouldn't be happy with 'just' her computerized sewing machine and a Springer Micro Compact.

Regards,
Rabbit.

A large chunk of my gifts came in the form of money for the kitchen remodel.

The only physical non-gun gifts I got was a Mouse sander, a 12v power inverter for the 4x4, the 3rd volume of the Family Guy on DVD, and a Coleman lantern.

The only gun related stuff I got was Elmer Keith's Gun Notes vol 1, and an illustrated encyclopedia of hunting rifles and shotguns.

Pretty light around here, and that was just fine with me. Did get a very nice book with the complete collection of Edgar Allan Poe works. Some new sheets for the bed. Was more excited about the gifts I found for some others.

I must've been a good boy this year.

A 12-piece Henckel's knife set in wood block was under the tree with my name on it.

Hanging among the ornaments was a little card telling me to look in the garage.

A Craftsman rolling tool cart/chest was out there, they rolled it over from the neighbor's garage to keep me from snooping the last several weeks.

Never again dead batteries.  SWMBO gave me one o them flashlights that you shake for 30 seconds and electro magnetic magic creates POWER.  Let there be light!!

Oldest son gave me a Hometics seat that has powerful back massagers installed.  I mean really really powerful.  Youngest son gave me a gift certificate for the book store.

Now I can sit in my massager and read by flashlight and never have to worry about a power failure.   IT'S ALIVE!!!!!

Sirius Satelliete radio!  I've actually had it a few weeks.....love it.  No more annoying local commercials.  Real news at my fingertips.  Songs I've not heard before on the stations I choose (instead of the same *expletive deleted*it over and over on the local stations).  No stupid and annoying radio shows (which we have a plethera of here).

I got a whole bunch of "proto-diamonds"!:D  My parents say I can use them as paper weights as well.

Popcorn and aftershave, a Starbucks card and a Nordstorm's gift card.

No guns, no ammo.  Need to be more aggressive in my list.

The best gifts I got this year were from my 5 1/2 year old twin grandsons, Jonathan and Wesley.  They got to shop the Santa Shop at kindergarten and bought these with their own money, and wrapped them themselves.

Yes, boys, grandpa loves them.  'Scuse me, I have something in my eye. Smiley

My family worked together on a project to give me a customized calendar for 2006.
Pictures I had never seen of different loved ones on the cover and each month, with every date important to me pre-entered and highlighted.
Half the pix are of the givers -- young, healthy, happy -- as you would expect
But the other half are of the ones I miss -- and THEY were from times when they were healthy and happy.
I don't know where they found those pictures.
But the calendar will be prized for a lifetime.

Hey Old Fud...

We did something similar for our family.  We gave our parents and grandparents custom calendars with family specific pictures of our daughter and them on each page (the ones my parents got had pictures of Abby with them, Shell's family got pictures of Abby and that side, etc).  My wife went through each of the calendars and entered every birthday, anniversary, etc for the appropriate family (ie, my parents didn't get that info for my wife's side, etc).  They were a big hit.

Some sitcom had a bit where they father told the boys about getting coal in their stockings.  Of course, they didn't know what coal was and asked.  Upon being told it was a rock that burned, they all wanted some. Smiley

I would've been the same way, but I was always told naughty boys got switches (and not the Cisco kind either).
