A number of brewpubs in the Pacific NW do this.  Usually, it is a dark stout or porter and a rich vanilla ice cream.  I have done this at home and think it is very good.

Not bad at all! It won't make you a fan of Guinness if you aren't already, but it's a cool twist on a great beer. I won't be switching away from plain 'ol Guinness Draught when I just want a beer, but this float will be a good "already buzzed so... ya know.. wait what?" drink.

I can't stand whiskey. I think they docked my man card several points because of it...

Then again, I've only had it straight. I think...

That's a variation on the basic Boilermaker theme there, Nightfall.

(Not that I'd know about drinking those or anything...)

Nightfall, that is exactly what I have done at home using the same ingredients.  I have also done it with some locally-sourced stouts and ice creams, but the Guinness and Breyer's are available everywhere, and make a fine combo.

This is an Irish car bomb.  A friend of mine told me about ordering one in a bar in Boston, and he got beaten up after leaving the bar.  Apparently, in some parts of the country, ordering one is seen as a political statement against the IRA and some people take great offense.  Or is it a statement in favor of the IRA?  I can't remember.

That's also why one doesn't order a Black & Tan in the Old Country - good way to get your clock cleaned.   =|

You're right, New Belgium is Fat Tire and company.  My bad.

Meh. No problem. I like pretty much everything they brew and was just wondering if I'd missed a New Belgium offering.
