Clearances pulled for Secret Service Agents
« on: April 17, 2012, 10:16:06 AM »
Looks like they pulled the clearances for the entire team in the prostitute incident. I'm guessing there's a few innocent agents in the mix.

I have to wonder what a Secret Service agent can even do without an active clearance? I'm not even sure they could do something like teach at FLETC without a clearance, or even do office work.

More than likely they are done.  Also the military members involved are toast also.

Shame when just a few give the whole a black eye.

IMHO, my money is on tip of the iceberg.  They were just caught.

Where's the fun in being a Secret Agent if you can't do things that are naughty and illegal ?   :P

They got caught by not following the rules of the hotel and by not paying for the pro.

This is what I told my wife last night when she was shocked to hear about this:

I'd much prefer virtuous and professional individuals in the Secret Service. But, if I can't get virtuous and professional, I'd at least like smart.

These guys were not only sleazy, they were stupid. $49??? Who cares if you think you're getting cheated, you are committing a crime while in the employ of the SECRET SERVICE. PAY THE WOMAN and shut up.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

FTW. What kind of moron, knowing he's breaking all kinds of regs, would argue about the lousy 49 ducats instead of just paying and staying on the down low? It's almost like "dumb bad cop" in a B movie.

Though I would argue that there is a very good point raised re: blackmail and other potential threats, when you think with the brain in your wiener instead of the brain in your brain.

I see a little problem called EGO involved.

Yep - just like the GSA party scandal, I think incidents like these that come to light represent a fraction - a small fraction - of the misconduct that is routine among government employees; it's like they're the new nobility, entitled to lord it over mere peasants to whom rules and standards actually apply . . .

ya, I heard the other day that "escort" type "dates" are legal in Colombia.
probably against SS policy though.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/04/17/up-to-21-women-brought-to-colombia-hotel-by-agents-and-military-members-senator/

Now it looks like a total of 21 involved, 11 Secret Service agents and 10 Service members.

Can you still use regular women?

If you mean one night stand(s) without quid pro quo involved, yes.

there is always a quid pro quo.  all that varies is currency and rate

Hadn't heard that. That would have been an interesting and likely unenforceable rule back in the hay days of Subic Bay.

The libertarian in me says "whatever", I can disagree with their choices morally and not feel obligated to speak my mind.

If they broke rules they have agreed to as part of their career choice, adios! Don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on your way to private sector work.

The other disturbing part of this is the probability of underage girls being involved. That from what I understand is one of the allures of 2nd/3rd world brothels and escort services. Sworn to uphold our constitution while lining the pockets of those who traffic the flesh of the powerless? They deserve to spend some time in prison for such a breach of trust.

For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

How is this different from the stuff Navy sailors do when on shore leave in Bankgok?

Or is there some kind of NO PROSTITUTES rule for the Secret Service?

Apparently a much bigger issue is that there were uncleared people in controlled areas, which is a HUGE no no.

They damned well should lose their clearances over that.

In fact, I wouldn't have any heart burn if some of them faced criminal charges.

Why? It seems bizarre that the military would become more puritanical in this day and age.
