I would like to announce my candidacy
« on: November 05, 2008, 11:09:37 AM »
Platform:

Gay marriage: It's cool that people are saying that they want to be partners for life. Don't make me watch, and PLEASE try to keep the loonies out of the Pride parade this year?

Marijuana legalization: Legalize it all - everything - and slap a use tax on it. That tax goes to education and rehabilitation. Distribute through either liquor stores or pharmacies. Get the meth labs out of the cheap motels, and into industry where the things will be safely regulated. But I suspect that use would drop off when the easy money goes away.

Abortion: If you do it, you live with it. I don't want to hear about it, or pay for it.

Gun control: Require firearms safety training in grade schools. While we're at it, let's also train the population on avoiding household poisons, stupid electrical tricks, show them pictures of nasty accidents, and keep them from staring at the sky with their mouths open while it is raining.

Immigration: Either do it right, or get deported. I have no problem with people who do it right - our population has been kicked out of most countries, and another few won't hurt.

Welfare: If someone doesn't want to work, cut them off, maybe send them to Mexico. If you're not smart enough to figure out how to use a lawn mower, then you can mop floors somewhere. Mops are good.

Middle east: Be nice and talk to the terrorists. That way we know where they are. Then the next time someone does something which harms an American, we kill them. On you tube.

Eliminate crop subsidies for "farm" outfits which hold more than 999 acres. And no, you're not going to get around this by having 23 different 999 acre companies.

Reform the prison system. It's a prison, and it should be run by the guards, not the inmates. No more buggery. Individual small cells. Video cameras everywhere. Shock collars on all inmates. Someone does something, it's zap time.

Oh, and put it in Death Valley, and pack it up and move it every week.

Sounds good to me dude, what office are you shooting for first?

You got my vote ! And believe me, I wouldn't go to one of those Pride Parades if my life depended on it, I have been chastised for trying to explain to some other GLBT people why their shenanigans are counter productive to their whole "cause" but I'm pretty sure they are too busy "Gheying it up" to listen.

You need to see what a meth-head looks like. It's not safe EVER. Their teeth fall out, they get open sores, they get paranoid, they see shadow people, and they move VERY fast. It turns people into violent animals.

Yeah, like America's fighter pilots, right?

A lot of truck drivers in Europe do meth, too. Not sure about America.

This is basically saying murder is OK as long as the person being murdered is still inside of another person and isn't quite finished being built yet.
These also happen to be the most defenseless, helpless people in our society.

I'm not OK with this, but your other points don't hit me wrong.

Er...speed and other amphetamines are not the same as crystal meth, which is pretty much choosing to kill yourself the first time you use it.

There are no good outcomes from crystal meth. It's just evil.

No, not really.  Without going into too much detail, I've known people who have used Crystal Meth on an infrequent basis.  They do not match any of your pop culture sourced stereotypes.  Not saying it's safe to use or anything I approve of, just that reality is not as cut and dried as your rants.

You really need to cut back on the hyperbole.

Perhaps with the addendum that any violent crime committed under the influence of these drugs results in either life imprisonment or death. Maybe only after the first offense if you want to be generous.

I'm for legalizing it all, to include meth.

I also recall how "crack is 'worse than heroin' and/or 'the new heroin.'  And how "meth is 'worse than crack' and/or 'the new crack.'  And let us not forget, how "cheap Mexican heroin is the new crack."

And so on, in drug-war circular logic & propaganda.

MW slightly exaggerates its effects, but not by much.

The studies done on former users show serious changes in how their brains work, electrochemically.  The effects look to be like a traumatic brain injury and sometimes mental illness from the outside.  Just how traumatic/ill depends on the how heavy & how long the user indulged.  These changes are much more severe than those seen after cocaine & heroin use.

So, if we make it easier to use meth, we can expect to see more meth brain-cripples.  These folks are pretty damn broke, unhirable, and will be drains on our system.

My hope with the "legalize it all" approach is that quality heroin or cocaine would drive meth out of the market.

The bit about the schools. And the tax on drugs. And not eliminating ALL farm subsidys.

What about gun control? Will you work to repeal the NFA? Universal CCW?

And how about an ammendment making prostitution legal in all states and pimping illegal?

What about Iraq? Could you just nuke it and be done with it? It'd certainly save us time and money.

You do these things, and you'll have my vote.  =D

You want to legalize prostitution, but not allow them to hire agents or managers?

Do you even know why ag subsidies were created in the first place?
