In an impassioned floor speech, Connecticut Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal said: βThe time for action is now on universal background checks, a ban on illegal trafficking and straw purchases, a prohibition on assault weapons and high capacity magazines. This kind of comprehensive package of reforms has been proposed. This body failed to adopt it. But that is no excuse for inaction now.β

Outside of Hartford, nobody takes Blumenthal seriously.

Hey, I didn't get a Harumph out of that guy!
I voted, fwiw. Sleepy East Granby ain't got much clout.
It is frustrating being in a red town in a blue state.
Here's another good one, courtesy of the NYT (because every 18 year old out there has the cash for a Barrett):http://twitchy.com/2015/12/11/nyt-warns-of-the-deadly-proliferation-of-50-caliber-sniper-rifles-since-expiration-of-assault-weapons-ban/
wish I had the cash for a Barrett.I mean, good god, I'm betting someone around here has one, but those damn things are rare even among the crazy gun nuts who do spend obscene amounts of money on guns (and ammo!)
I got the cash, but no place to shoot it. A 100 to 300 yard range seems like a waste.
