See Bloomberg....NO GUNSHOW LOOPHOLE
A big pat on the back for the Administration of Showmasters Gunshow and the gun owners in Virginia.

At yesterdays show at the Raceway, two people from New York came into the show. They went to several vendors and at least one private seller, trying to buy a gun. They were turned away each time.

One private seller went to the show manager and asked if it was legal to sell to them. When he was told no, he returned to the people and said no way. After the man had been turned down by Dark Sun, the woman tried to buy a gun from them.

By that time the police had been notified and they questioned the couple. Apparently there wasn’t enough to charge them, at least yet.

I understand a third New York car came in after the episode and left rather quickly.

Were these Bloombergers or just Carpetbaggers ?….whatever they were, they found out there isn’t a loophole and buying illegal guns is hard in Virginia.

There was an announcement on the PA about this and and the whole place applauded.

After Bloomy sent his goons down to attempt straw purchases the first time, the Virginia AG sent him a letter saying it was not nice & please don't do it again.  Well, apparently Bloomy could not take the hint, so Virginia passed a law against coming down from NYC trying this sort of bull hockey (Class 6 felony - 1 year).

These fools were apparently video'd by the venue security cameras but the cops were not able to get enough "evidence" to charge them.  Additionally, lack of communication coordinatiuon between the cops & on-site show manager prevented the announcement of the situation so that a perp-walk cordon could be formed before they were escorted off premises.

stay safe.

Couldn't they be arrested for, what, 48 hours, without charges and then released?  That would send the same signal to Bloomy -- just not as strong, but maybe he'll have trouble finding accomplices next time.  (It would be great to have them roll over on Bloomberg and actually be able to put out an arrest warrant on him for conspiracy etc.)

There is a subset of sea lawyers who want these folks charged & convicted only so that Bloomy can then be charged as accomplise before the fact, accessory before & during, conspiracy to commit, and walking upright and impersonating a human being [the latter being a capital offense in Virginia ;)].

stay safe.

I'm just sayin', the police didnt arrest them because there wasn't enough evidence.  So arrest them anyway!  [popcorn]  (not a position I normally take)

Is it a crime to attempt to buy a gun illegally, or do you have to go through with it and actually make the purchase before a crime has been committed?

Wouldn't it be best to call the ATF? While their 2nd Amendment views may not be that nice, I can't imagine that they would appreciate Bloomberg meddling in their territory.

I believe that the ATF has told him to knock it off at least once. That said, arresting someone of his stature and connections is not something many government agencies are willing to go for.

They could have written them a speeding ticket and hoped they didn't sign it.   =D    >:D

Congrats to the gun sellers at the show.

The presumption here is that perhaps Bloomberg sent them.  Could be any number of any other folks/organizations.

I think they should have been arrested.  Most laws seem to have an "attempt to" clause, and also an "intent" clause.  Surely after they were denied the first time, they should have known about the law, thereby making subsequent attempts "with intent to."

Not a sea lawyer, just my perspective on it.

I'm sure the local PD captured their IDs.  Wouldn't it be grand if an arrest warrant were issued now?   [popcorn]

As alluded to above, there is/was a reason why they were not discussing with the local and federal law enforcement folks the validity of any responses made on the required paperwork that one must complete before a firearms transaction can take place.

As to their connection with Bloomberg/MAIG I merely ask if you could suggest any other reason why folks who openly and clearly identifying themselves as being residents of NY/NYC would come to a Virginia gun show and attempt to involve three distinct individuals in three separate portions of a firearms purchase -- one filling out the paperwork who states that the second one will be providing the legal tender while the third one is identified by the first two as the one who will be taking physical possession of said firearm.

Did I also mention that all three were clearly and repeatedly verbally informing the dealer(s) of these activities as they attempt to consumate the purchase, or repeatedly as the dealer(s) if doing so "would be OK"?

Even if such statements were not made in the presence of LEOs the statements of the dealers could have been relied on for detaining them until warrants were secured, and serve as sufficient testimony at trial.

No, campers, they wanted to implicate Bloomberg.  Oh, yes they did!

stay safe.
