We're innocent! And the gun is evil, too!
« on: May 18, 2010, 05:20:20 PM »
We are innocent.  There was nothing we could do.  It was all the gun's fault.  Don't blame us.  Let's sing Kumbya, light candles and wear ribbons.  Maybe we could write a new law making it even more illegal to kill people, or maybe trample some folks' civil liberties by exposing their mental health records and taking away some of their Constitutional rights.

But don't blame us for anything that happened.  We're innocent.  And we don't care that we arbitrarily take away from our students, faculty and staff the basic human right to self defense because, as everybody who ever watched the movie Zardoz knows, "The gun is evil." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdHw1rrOtcE   [OK, so Tech screwed that up as well.  What do you want from me?]

stay safe.

Preliminary report: Tech violated federal law on crimes on campus
By Karin Kapsidelis
Published: May 18, 2010

A preliminary investigation of the Virginia Tech massacre has found the university in violation of a federal law requiring timely warning of crimes on campus.

The U.S. Department of Education notified Tech President Charles Steger that the university’s actions on the morning of April 16, 2007, were in violation of the Clery Act.

Tech was notified of the report on Jan. 21 but made it available today as the result of Freedom of Information requests by the Richmond Times-Dispatch and other media.

The university issued a 73-page response that strongly objects to the department’s preliminary conclusions.
If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

Hey you kids!! Get off my lawn!!!

They keep making this eternal vigilance thing harder and harder.  Protecting the 2nd amendment is like playing PACMAN - there's no pause button so you can go to the bathroom.
