Title: What's spinnin' in your CD player?
Post by: Justin on April 13, 2005, 05:09:04 AM
What the title says.  What do you groove to on the way to work?

I'll go first:
Band:
The Zutons
Album:
Who Killed...The Zutons?

Upbeat Brit rock.  The auditory equivalent of a Snickers bar, but what can I say, this album is fun!

Echo and the Bunnymen (the self-titled album).  But I have The Clash (London Calling) and Psychedic Furs (Forever Now) sittin' on top ready to go.

What can I say, I'm trapped in the '80s new wave Smiley

At the moment, a Gentoo installation CD with SCSI drivers that don't want to cooperate.  Gettin' ready to use it for target practice.

When I finally flip out and kill it, I'll pop in this Mozart's greatest hits CD.  It's good stuff.

Nothing right now, but at most random moments it could be anything from the Victoria Police Pipes and Drums to Van Halen.

My computer is set on random play (I doubt if I've used the actual CD player in a couple of years).  Right now there is something by The Bloodhound Gang corrupting my kids (who are making excuses as to why they shouldn't be in bed rolleyes ).  Before that there was something from Great Big Sea & before that something from the Gin Blossoms.

(If I keep misspelling words & having to edit them I might even be able to tell you what comes up next Tongue )

Car changer on shuffle
N.W.A - Straight out of Compton - F--- the police has to be one of the finest bad mood songs ever.
Tori Amos - Under the pink
Pantera - Vulgar display of power
U2 - Zooropa
Beatles - White Album - Both Disks

Right this second, don't laugh, Sinatra at the Sands with the Count Basie Band. Led Zeppelin 2 waiting to go. Closet drummer here (absolutely rubbish it has to be said) so Moby dick is always good.

Soundtrack to 'The Life Aquatic' . Very cool. I don't know many of the artists though. Some 'Iggy and the Stooges' I recognize. I really like the recordings of the guy with the solo acoustic playing slow, portuguese translations of David Bowie songs.

mmmmmmmmmmmmm, cheeseballs.........

so billblank, whats it like to be rolling along thumping with Eazy E slangin' lyrics like 'yo i'm the dopeman yeah boy wear
courdoroy money up to here but unemployed', and then a few seconds later have tori crooning stuff like "Hangin with the raisin girls She's gone to the other side Givin us a yo heave ho Things are getting kind of gross And I go at sleepy time"?

Pretty damn good actually Smiley I note that you, nearly, know the lyrics off the top of your head.

Other good combo's are the ubiquitous Handel and his water music with a dash of Bodycount, fleetwood mac - rumours, Nirvana - Bleach, KD lang - Ingenue, Guns and Roses - A.f.D and Bob Marley - legend.

As an aside, that bob marley Cd is one of the nicest to listen to that I own.  It flatters every system I play it on, massive detail and crisp, precise soundstage.

Gwen Stefani's "Love, Angel, Music, Baby"
Chingon's "Mexican Spaghetti Western"
