Dems telling tall tales again
« on: September 15, 2012, 05:13:16 PM »
One of my liberal acquaintances posted this on facebook today. How can they get away with making this carp up??

If by that you mean excruciatingly cherry-picked numbers, I expect so.

That's what I thought when I saw it. Oh, ha ha, someone's making fun of the democrats for lying again.

But no. This is one of the things going around the internet now. And my daughter's going to see this and the source cited and believe every misconstrued word of it. Didn't we used to have some kind of law about truth in advertising? I'm not usually one to be a proponent of legislation, but that one I'm ALL for.

Reagan: Up 14.9 percentage points
George H.W. Bush: Up 7.1 percentage points
Clinton: Down 13.4 percentage points
George W. Bush: Up 5.6 percentage points
Obama: Up 21.9 percentage points (through December 2010 only)

Interesting data...but essentially meaningless when assigning blame.  I'm no Obama fan...seriously...but it's Bushit.

Same way all the conservatives point to a brief gas price crash for one month as "evidence" that gas was 1.83 under bush

Percentages are rather misleading as we all know.  I would rather deal with the actual numbers.  But the percent increase relative to GNP has merit.

I gasoline price increase also has a lot of merit from a data perspective for the average guy considering that real income is down by about $4000 per year for the average household.  You can buy a lot of gas with $4K.

So that's where the 1.83 came from. I knew prices were higher than that.

Kinda like claiming 10 years of tax increases to balance 6 years of expenditure.  My dimpled, hairy tuckus.

Even corrected, that charts looks way different when you compare deficits vs. who controlled the house, especially the 2nd Clinton term, and first and second bush terms.

I'd have to agree there.  Who controls the house is more important.  At least it was until the last few years of continuous continuing resolutions.
