My grandmother is paralyzed from the neck down and spends most of the day watching TV.  When nobody is home she is relegated to watching only one channel.  Are there any products out there such as a DVR that can be programmed to change channels at preset times so she could watch what she wanted?   They have a satellite dish if that matters.

Dunno which provider she has, but I have a very old DirecTV receiver (as in, at least ten years old by now) and it has a timer function.  I think it's called VCR Timer or something in the settings menu, but you can program it to do exactly what you want, i.e. switch to a certain channel at certain times.  My receiver can't do recurring timers though--so someone at the home would have to set her listing up manually, every day.

Call DirecTV or Dish and see if they have something.  I can almost guarantee in this day and age of litigation that they have something to adress this to keep from being labled as discriminatory towards handicapped people.
