Help name my chili
« on: February 11, 2007, 09:21:51 AM »
Ok, it's nearing chili cook off time again, but this year I'm stuck for a name.

Contest has prizes for best red, best white, and best name.  Name requires some kind of poster to go with it.

Won for best red last year, and wifey won for best white.

Going to make about the same chili as last year, but need a good name.

Last year's name was "Death to Humans" with an evil Bender (from Futurama) for the poster, finished second in voting.

Previous names were:  "Dragons Breath", "Tarantula Jack's Thundering Herd Chili", "Opus' Orifice Opener", (well, you get the idea)

Been mulling around the name, "Geeks on Fire" or some such.

Chili is a mix of ground sirloin, marinade venison, smokes sausage, and my special blend of vegetables and spices.  Mildly hot, with light mix of Cayenne, Jalapeño, Thai, and Habanero peppers.

Looking for all you wordsmiths out there to help out with a name.  How about it??

Just off the top of my head, but how about "Triple Dog Dare Red"?

Considering your username, how about "Odin's Sweat" or "Odin's Breath"? "Loki's Vengeance"?

"Lagrima Del Diablo"? (someone help me with my Spanish, I believe this means "Devil's Teardrops". I looked up teardrop in a Spanish to English dictionary, the translation was "lagrima" but that may not be correct.)

The Masque of the Red Death?

Or maybe there's a play on words to be made there.

And white chili is a sin against mankind.

You could always be politically topical and crude, and call it:

"Weapon of A** Destruction"...with lots of military paraphernalia around...  grin

As for the white, remember that white flame is the hottest of all possible flame colors.

Maybe put out the red and white chilis accompanied by blue-corn tortilla chips?

White chilli uses tomatillos instead of tomatoes, and typically chicken instead of beef.  To me it's like a tortilla soup.

ground meat?  Sausage?  VEGETABLES?

Didn't tell you that the vegtables consisted of orange, red, green, and yellow peppers + valdalia onions, so there.... Pfffftt!

Keep 'em coming... Haven't decided on any yet, but the 'Melt my shiney...."  is in the running.

BTW - Don't need a name for the wife's white chili, she's on her own with that stuff.  Looks like something the dog hacked up.

I say go completely opposite.  Call it something so nice, sweet, and serene that it can't possibly hurt you. Something like "Mom's Goodnight Hug" or maybe "Bunny's Breath".  Then have it blow people's minds when they taste it.

Yes, I am evil.  So get over it.   grin

280, I hope you'll forgive me, but for purely aesthetical reasons, I think it sounds better if you reverse it.

As in "Biscuit Burnin' Chili"

I think that reads that this chili will burn your biscuits, while when I read "Burnin' Biscuits Chili," I can't help but imagine chili that tastes like burnt biscuits.

I got the visual of a bunch of bisquits piled on top of the chili and caught fire.

When making chili for pot-luck etc., I usually make three batches.

"Cowgirl"
"Cowboy"
"Loco Hombre"

Probably not much help though. I'm sure there's a "loco hombre" at every chili contest there ever was.

I suppose "Tocador de griterío" is probably too descriptive...  angel
I promise not to duck.
