Abdominal pain is distracting
« on: August 29, 2007, 06:59:50 AM »
I've got this weird pain on my left side, kind of below and under my rib cage.  I think it's last night's dinner causing me grief, but it sure is making it hard to concentrate at work.

Could be parasites.  Have you cleansed lately?

Could be a variety of things.  Your stomach is actually on your left side.  Your pancreas is on that side.  The sigmoid colon is low, but on that side, so if you're having problems related to the constriction of the sigmoid, "material" backup can cause pain in that region.  My diverticulitis causes pain a bit lower, but on the left side as well.  If there is any fever associated with the pain, get thee to a doctor quickly.

Nope, I feel fine except for some pain.  I'll give it a day or two.

After much prodding and poking, it feels like the lowest rib itself is causing the pain.  When I push on the rib, it stings.

You want flushing?  Try the regimen they put you own just before a colonoscopy.  The only way you'll get more "flushed" is with a firehose enema.

Twas never blue, but kelly green.  My guess is the blue dye breaks down into a green substance.  Methinks wifey put too much food coloring into the icing.  shocked  rolleyes

No no no!

I first shat blue after we ate all that blue icing on Saturday. Note to self, never put an Oreo laced with blue frosting in your mouth just before Mtnbkr calls the cake decorator a "Smurf Colostomy Bag."

Then it switched over to green for a day and a half as the result of the Lucky Care Bear cake I ate on Sunday.

It passes straight through.

With better timing we could've had oreo coming out your nose, or at least the blue icing part. Cheesy

Amen, brother.

My doc let me watch as he ran the funky video tube through my colon like a garter snake up a twisty drain pipe.  I'll never think of lemon-lime gatorade the same way again.  The opiates they had me on sure did take the edge off.

I'm not sure about all these "cleansing" regimens I read about, but after seeing it in the flesh, I know that there is no accumulated matter in my colon slowing me down.

Pics?  I got a couple, though I don't have a scanner.  I think that they oughta have a video capture so's I can post it on youtube.

I was out cold during the procedure (thankfully), but I have pics of the "problem" areas.  Even there, things are pink and healthy.  I've heard gastro-whatever docs saying the colons of people who eat terrible diets are pink and free of "impacted" material (outside of problems like diverticulitis, even then, trapped material is rare and easily avoided by diet).

The pain is mostly gone today, except for a little tenderness on my ribs.  I think I caused that myself, with all the poking and pushing I did.
