You've heard the saying that diplomacy is the art of saying "nice doggie" until you can reach a big stick?  Somehow that should apply to your dog's former people as well.

I got another email from her pretty much admitting defeat, without saying as much.

It looks like it's over, but what a long, angry morning.

I just don't get some people.

I told my wife to keep an eye out when the pup is outside, just in case they show up to cause problems.

She asked me what she should do if they do.

I politely reminded her of all of those range trips she passed on, and told her to take pics of the car in the driveway, ask them to leave, and dial 911.  I told her not to confront them.

Keep the pooch away from the pinhead former owners.

You're right to keep the dog, but......

why the F### do these nuts know where you live? I'll tell em what city I'm from, but that's it.

To be very honest with you, I was concerned that I'd passed on a perfectly wonderful family yesterday morning in favor of your situation, only to feel that your wife and the pup really hadn't taken to one another very well while you were here.

So now they're having second thoughts, even  though they knew about the other pets, and it's your wife's fault?

Again, long walk off short pier. :scrutiny:

That's cruel, fistful, just plain cruel.

Ex-ma hole, I'm very glad you got that pup away from those ditzy people. They would've turned that poor dog into a basket case. Have you named him yet?

The pup's name is "Elly", named after (corny, I know) my Uncle that was killed in an auto accident a few years back. His middle name was Ellis- he was a huge animal lover.

Our "new" (we got her in June) kitten is named "Nupa"- after my Unlce's Dog.  Nupa is short for nupacane, which is an anal analgesic.

Doctor humor, I guess.  Hi, meet my cat "Butt medicine".

Oh, and Fistful, I was actually going to tell them that I feared for my families safety from them, and that I didn't want to be harrassed by them any longer, and I recognized that they ABVIOUSLY couldn't handle a dog, and I donated it to a shelter.  Then end it off with some guy with a pick-up truck, gun rack, no teeth, and SEVERE body odor adopted her while we were standing there.  The guy was homeless, but thought that the dog was small enough to sleep comfortably in the bed of the truck with him.

Keep the dog.

Tell the others to:

1. Get over it.
2. Grow up.
3. Get another dog.

+ 1

Two thoughts.

1) Legally speaking, You're the owner of that dog. Dogs are property. They sold it to you. Tough luck for them if they changed they're mind.

2) Morally speaking, you have an obligation to keep that dog away from the (inadvertently I'm sure) ill-treatment that the dog will suffer at the hands of the flakes you are describing. Now I'm not an animal rights wacko or anything, but a sentient creature like a dog deserves better than to be hot-potatoed around by morons who don't understand their own feelings. Literally, even if that "better" is to be taken out to the back forty and shot in the brainpan.
