Title: Two Interesting Stories
Post by: Ben on January 25, 2011, 11:09:21 AM
Two stories from the local uber-liberal weekly rag. Disclaimer: I only occasionally check this site out to see what the enemy is doing. This "paper" is basically a local version of Democratic Underground. I don't believe they have once published a story that didn't have an overt liberal slant to it (e.g., a reporter inserting "Republicans suck" into his story).

Story #1 is a bit disconcerting. Child pornographers should get theirs (if that proves to be what this guy is guilty of), but it was disturbing to me to find out that Photobucket works with Homeland Security in this way. What, besides child porn, do they, and other sites like them, report to DHS?

http://www.independent.com/news/2011/jan/25/keyt-employee-pleads-not-guilty-child-porn-charges/

Story #2 is just a local illustration of the stupidity of political correctness. Peets Coffee should have told the customer that they were a moron and to never cross the threshold of any Peets Coffee for the rest of their lives.

Edited for spelin

Ben , I have long been saying that Political correctness, and zero-tolerance policies need to get thrown out of the window.
It's those sorts of things that prevent us from doing what needs to be done, and say what needs to be said, for fear of being labled a racist/homophobe/gun-nut/conservative/right winger/what-have-you.
I personally feel that P.C. is what is destroying this country because it allowed people like the horribly liberal folks to get into power and keep up their attacks on what made America great.

Not disagreeing with you at all.

Side question.  What kind of dumbass would store child porn on photobucket?

The same dumbass that thinks FaceBook is private.

Why was ICE involved? And I wonder what this "child pornography" really was. I'd guess that it actually is, but it's possible it's over something stupid.

I don't know under exactly which circumstances, but Customs does have some sort of interest when it comes to Child Porn.  It may be the Internet aspect.

I believe that to be the case - international trafficking and all. I always end up doing worst case scenarios in my head when I read these stories though. While I can say "good for them" for catching someone trafficking in child porn (if he is indeed guilty) I can't help but think about how they can potentially abuse the ability to monitor Internet traffic. Just call me Mr. Paranoid. :)

Photobucket seems to have been protecting itself, and rightly so.

Peets seems to be just one more victim of the parasitic artistes' belief that they have an absolute right to be loved, honored, respected, and paid for anything any artiste says is worthy.

Well, unless they have been using that name for an almighty long time, they were asking for it.

And following up on the "offended" theme -- another story today from the same newspaper. Local Indian group calls cops on a store because of a T-shirt. It's almost like an Onion story. The reader comments are worth checking out. Many of them are surprisingly common sense comments. Others less so.

Well, I just thought it was funny that the "evil white man" they went after turned out to be an Asian lady. :)

From the article:
“There’s only one way to deal with a white man. You either pick up a gun or stand between him and his money.”

Um, that's two ways, chief.

Well, that's not long enough to pre-date the KKK, so they're either idiots or racists.

Wait, now. Was it KKK or Triple K?

its called triple k fencing  their trucks have three cursive k's on the door. and in a bit of poignant irony there is a better than 50% chance that the driver will not use a high number sunblock.

Sorry, but I'll have to go with idiots on this one. You brand your business with the same initials as a notorious hate group, and you might get some flak over it. Too bad.

I have never heard any objection to Triple K Manufacturing (http://www.triplek.com/).  I never even made the connection to fools in robes 'til this thread.

The really scary part is that when the shop clerk told them to leave the crazies call the cops yet aren't arrested for trespassing or otherwise made to bugger off.
