Canadian Thoughtcrime
« on: January 12, 2008, 08:00:08 PM »
Some of y'all may not be aware that Canada has taken Poltically Correct speech codes a step further and backed them by kangaroo courts that receive complaints, conduct investigations, and levy heavy fines (thousands & tens of thousands of dollars).  All without typical due process one might find in a real Canadian court.

Among those persecuted by the kangaroo courts are religious types writing letters to the editor, barbers, and nowadays, magazine publishers, journalists, and book authors.

Ezra Levant published the old Danish Mohammed cartoons, back when that was in the news.  He has been hauled before the banal barristers of thoughtcrime to answer for his deeds.

Ezra decided that his ordeal ought to be both recorded and disseminated.  His first face-to-face with the kangaroos occurred today and he is doing the "disseminating" part as I write this.

The following site has three of the videos with captions:

Levant's own website has more and he will post more:

That's scary, and we're coming damned close to it here in the US.

I'm really surprised that the "court" hasn't hit him with a cease and desist order.

Fortunately, our Constitutional protections prevent that from happening here.

That was...frightening.

To me, some of the worst evil can be perpetrated by a bored bureaucrat with a procedural manual and a rubber stamp.

I'm also unable to fathom why Canada, supposedly secular, has no problem with free speech against Western religions, but is eager to play doormat dhimmi to radical Islam.

Probably because they are home to many Muslims, including some obvious radicals.  The guys who were caught trying to sneak in to do mischief for Y2K came from Canada.

Does it? We are now restricted from paying to publsih a criticism of a politcal candidate near an election?

I got it!  I got it!

Sent the dude some money.  At first I was like, "Well, he IS a lawyer, I doubt he's hurting for money."  But then I realized it doesn't matter HOW much the man makes, he's still being robbed by fascists, and therefore should be helped out.
