I know more than a few folks here dig the tuneage... I'm cleaning house, and one of the items I'm unloading is a Yaoin tube buffer (goes between your DVD player and your preamp or receiver). It's got the original Chinese tubes and a set of "vintage" RCAs with it...
This is a good way to "try out" tubes... If you don't like it, sell it to someone else, maybe lose/make a few bucks. If you do like it, either keep it, or upgrade.
These tend to run about $150 or so shipped from China... I _really_ liked the "tube sound," so much in fact that I'm going to go to a "real" tube preamp. But to do that, I've gotta (a) make space, and (b) not spend a bunch more money... So... Just put the thing on the 'bay...
Now to start going through Jen's old jeans that she decided to yard sale...

Just put an eSnipe bid on it. Dunno what it's good for, but it has tubes.

what's esnipe?
-
Automated bid sniping, synchronized to eBay's clock. I fire off my snipe bids in the last 4 seconds of an auction.
-
Cool... I gotta look into that... I think I just got sniped on a cheap hard drive for The Waumpuscat's (my esteemed father...) linux box...
-
I like to do my sniping manually, good adrenaline rush what with all the heart pounding and stuff.
Thanks bogie, no tubes for me. I DO have an old tube amp I can put my guitar through though. I can get some neat overdrive out of that thing let me tell ya. I haven't played with it (the amp, dammit!) in a while, I should bust it out. But not tonight.

Crappy dial-up + ebay = I get sniped more often than not.
-
Why don't they just enable the feature that extends auctions after every bid?
-
I _hate_ that... I hit an industrial auction site that bumps it 5 minutes with every bid... So you know that somewhere, there's some dude in a cube calling his boss to see if they can beat you...
Actually, I've had good results starting off with a high bid, and every time someone bids, it gets automatched... People look at the bid history, and decide not to bother.

Killed my e-Snipe bid. It's already over what I set as my upper limit.

Went for $91... Someone got a deal, and I'm happy enough with it.
