Comedian Leo Anthony Gallagher, or just "Gallagher" to most, passed away. He has a history of heart attacks so I'm guessing cardiac complications.

He had lefty ideas about a lot of things, but was undeniably funny in an entertainingly cerebral way.
RIP.

Wow, this makes me feel really old. I remember watching him on the old comedy central as one of the "young" comedians.
He made me laugh. RIP.

I saw him live on stage around 1985. He smashed all kinds of messy things watermelons etc with his giant mallet. He was funny as hell.
-
He's most remembered for the Sledge-o-matic (it slices it dices) which he used to end his shows, but had some funny, legit, solid bits. RIP

WATERMELON! (entire front row yanks up a long run of clear Visqueen)

I thought the smashing watermelons was Weird Al? I have never watched either of them so I don't know.

And you know you're on the internet too much when you find out about stuff like this via Mad Mike's drink recipes...

Weird Al does song parodies (though he also did a couple of movies and a TV show).
Gallagher was a prop comic.

We went to a Gallagher show here in town many moon come choctaw ago. He was hilarious and the first 3 rows were given plastic ponchos. I didn't realize he was so old....I have a hard time realizing I'm so old.

Which Gallager? Wasn't there a brother that was stealing the other brother's act?
