Sounds like a good reason to give a few bucks.
Wish I would have done something like this when I was young. I was taught by a Air Force shooting team member but just never thought about competing until I was older and by then there was always too much to do to make the time.

I gave a little. I know the local team was reborn and is currently active. I keep meaning to get involved, maybe help with the coaching or at least pull out some stuff for fun shoots and such. It was, hands down, the best extra curricular activity I was involved in.

http://www.rrpc.org/youthshooting/default.html You've got a few years yet, before she's old enough. You'll probably like Paul. He's a great guy. A little weird, but great guy.
Also, go to Field and Stream for .22. Dad says it's like ammo heaven. He brought home a Bucket 'O Bullets last week. ;/

I gave a sooper dooper .22 target rifle with sooper dooper replaceable sight lot and a sooper dooper fully adjustable thumbhole stock to a Boy Scout Troop once.
<pats self on back>
<pauses for applause>
Heard later that one of the kids achieved some kind of significant local championship with it.

A buddy of mine, his son will graduate from the Citadel in May. He got on the basis of his marksmanship ability. Got a scholarship for the Shooting Team. He tried out for the Olympic Team, but didn't quite make it.
