Well, I watched the first episode of Firefly last night.

I came in in the middle of the series when it was originally on, and just couldn't get into it.

Mtnbkr lent me the DVD set, and I have to admit, I'm quite intrigued.

I'm going to watch the second one this evening, and since they're calling for lots of rain on Friday, and I have Friday off, I think that's going to be a Firefly day!

Well, as I said, I came into the series probably episode 6 and was thoroughly lost.

I HATE trying to catch up with a progressive series if I've missed several episodes. That's why I never started watching Lost. By the time I heard of its existence, it was well into the first season.

No need to explain why you don't watch a particular show.

That's okay, the season aired all out of order anyhow.  Train Job first, Serenity last, and so forth.

The new Battlestar Galactica is good.  Firefly was good.  Farscape was good.  Babylon 5 was good.

Ain't no reason you can't like 'em all...

Excellent series.  The movie, Serenity, was also good.

I saw a few parts while it was on the air, but recently watched the whole series thru Netflix and then followed with Serenity.  My wife and I really liked the series, it had some great lines...    "I am a leaf in the wind..."

Coffee I'll get you.

Don't mind the salty taste or the ammonia smell. Just a problem with the water. Yeah, the water. That's it...

$25 at Amazon again.

http://www.amazon.com/Firefly-Complete-Ron-Glass/dp/B0000AQS0F/sr=1-1/qid=1164740181/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-4496290-0388826?ie=UTF8&s=dvd

Also, Firefly was #10 for the year (hey, its only November) at Amazon.  Somebody on another site posted some data (I dont know where he got it, but I think its probably true) showing Fireflys year-end results for each of the last four years:

Amazon best seller positions for Firefly:

 2006: #10
 2005: #16
 2004: #60
 2003: #61

If this is true, its getting more popular every year, unless these are cumulative figures.  I dont think they are because of the small difference between 2003 and 2004.

I heard so much about that show that I went ahead and bought the DVD's last year.  I watched the episode where they decided to give those medical supplies back.  The bad guy wouldn't listen so he kicked him into the engine.  The next guy said "No problem.  I understand completely!!"  Smiley  That scene sold me on the show.

All these new-fangled shows. I'm still trying to cope with the cancellation of 'Quantum Leap' and 'The Fall Guy'. The therapist says I'm getting better..

It aired when I was in the bush so I didn't know about it till last year.  It's one of the more libertarian spirited science fiction shows I've seen.  In that respect it's VERY different from the arch liberal Star Trek.  It had more promise than "Farscape," but unfortunately got cancelled.  "Serenity" seems to have wrapped the whole thing up once and for all, unless a new series is launched.
