Keep digging.  Obama doubles down on the stupid.  Dollars to donuts it comes out that they are listening to phone calls, not just looking at phone records.

http://washingtonexaminer.com/article/2531400

From the article:

Quote
“If people can’t trust not only the executive branch but also don’t trust Congress, and don’t trust federal judges, to make sure that we’re abiding by the Constitution with due process and rule of law, then we’re going to have some problems here.”

BWHAHAHAHA

Maybe, just maybe, we'd have some modicum of trust if the feds actually were abiding by the constitution, following due process or adhering to the rule of law.  What a joke.  "No, really!  We have your best interests in mind, trust us!"

Quote
Obama explained that it the appropriate checks and balances were in place to make sure that executive programs were not abused.

I'm curious how the whole program itself is not abuse - does the forth amendment not protect against unreasonable search - search without probable cause.

Like someone else had said I think if we can get at least 10 percent of all cell users to load their conversations with key words we could probable blow up the key word sifting computers.

Zuckerburg/Facebook deny it happens there:

http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/304289-zuckerberg-facebook-did-not-give-us-access-to-servers

I call bull on that one.

Facebook is a government security analyst's wet dream come to life.  Everybody self-documenting all their personal associations onto one server network?  Keeping conversations inside that network?  Datamining your out-of-network emails for existing in-network contacts and matching them up, building relationship webs, VOLUNTARILY?

That *expletive deleted*it was designed by either the CIA or the NSA.

I believe Facebook when they say they didn't give the gov access to their servers

Reason?

Because they don't need to. People accept friends requests from *expletive deleted*ing ANYBODY, and gov agencies have fake accounts they use for analysts to do all kinds of data mining

People also tend to leave their facebooks wide open

Yep. NSA folks remembered me. Got a lovely reception.   :)

NSA asks DoJ to look for investigate leakers.  Couldn't they just check the phone records of who called The Guardian ?

This is exactly why I am very reluctant to sign on to the Book of Face.

I've seen rumors (albeit from a source given to much conspiracy speculation) that the CIA provided early funding.
