OK.... WEIRD problem... Anyone know the answer?
« on: April 06, 2006, 06:12:24 PM »
I have a Dell photoprinter 720. Does a credible job of printing what I need it to print.

This evening, I printed out all my tax forms. No problem...

until I tried printing out the envelop.

No matter what I do, and no matter if I use either Word Perfect OR Word, the address on the envelope simply refuses to print in anything other than reddish with yellow stripes.

It's the weirdest damned thing.

Check your ink cartridges. You're not getting any black. They may be clogged or something.

If what garrettwc said isn't the problem, uninstall your printer software and reload from CD or web page. Might have a bug in the software.

It's not the ink cartridges, that's for sure.

I did have a virus and some trojans earlier this year, so maybe I do need a reinstall.

Mike, do you only get this when feeding an evelope through the manual feed? Try feeding a piece of paper the right size through the same slot and see if the problem persists. Then try a piece of paper via the paper tray. It could still be a hardware problem. Something interfering with the print heads. If that produces nothing then I would try what charby said and see if it's software.

Garret,

I did what you suggested, and I got the same weirdly colored text. It seems to be something tied in with the envelope encoding for the printer because it happens with BOTH Word and WordPerfect.

Use the manual paper selection function. The auto paper select may be fritzing out on you. It's in Print Properties.

Sounds like.

Have you check the manufacturers website to see if their is an FAQ with a bug fix? May just be a case of downloading an updated driver or something.
