Leather hardware question
« on: April 07, 2006, 10:48:47 AM »
No, not that, you weirdos.  I'm looking for a piece of brass hardware for a project that I'm about to start.  I have to idea what they're called, so I'm hoping one of you well-read folks can help.  I won't try to describe them, but you can see them here: http://www.ima-usa.com/product_info.php/products_id/508?osCsid=53ec84bff3225de9b04ec72d9229c428

If anyone knows of a source, or even what the silly things are called, I'd sure love to know.

Thanks,

James

Are you talking the double hook and loop on the sling?

Try a saddlery.

Yes, I suppose I should've been more specific, huh?  So far I've checked all the online sources for leather hardware and I'm coming up empty, so now I guess I'll call around.
You'd think that Tandy Leather would have it if anyone would, but noooooo...

Sling frog.  You may never find one, but you'll have better luck than with "metal hook thingie."

Uncle Mike's makes a sling just like that only with brass hooks. Could you take one of those, make a pattern, and cut your own out of sheet steel?

I've got some scraps of free-machining brass (leaded) 1/16" thick.  Its very easy to work with, bend and cut.  I've cut it with a wood cutting blade on a bandsaw.

Let me know if I can be of assistance.
