Title: If you had to choose a fictional villain...

...that was most like your personality, which would you choose?  Disney movie, Star Wars universe, whatever.  Gotta be a bad guy/gal, though.

Not something you're likely to see manifest itself externally with me, but the Joker. Probably Heath Ledger's latest interpretation.

I understand the whole "Some men just want to watch the world burn" mentality, even if I know it's wrong.  [tinfoil]

Alex Delarge from "A Clockwork Orange" might be another example.

There is a part of me that feels delight in violence and chaos. It does not rule me by any stretch of the imagination, but I sense it's presence within me, and I understand the motivations and feelings of those who do give themselves over to it.

As much as I might like to indulge fantasies of me being an ultra-violent type like Alex from "A Clockwork Orange", I would never be that outrageous. It would have to be a quieter villain. Maybe Pauli from "Goodfellas", Hyman Roth (really Meyer Lansky) from "Godfather II", or Nicholas Cage's character in "Lord of War".

If I could choose the villain I'd like to be, it would be a white Frank Lucas from "American Gangster". He was a gentleman with very good taste in clothing, homes and women, yet could turn on the violence like a switch if necessary. A man who can douse another with gasoline, set him afire, and put six rounds into him from a very sweet Colt while smoking a Cuban cigar is definitely a breed apart. ;)

Meh. The guy was just a simple Pictish barbarian chief. I'd have had his head on a pike in about five minutes. Now, the Lady on the other hand. Much more interesting. Sure, she's not as vicious as most of the ladies I've dated, but I'd definitely buy her a drink and introduce myself. Definite potential.

I'm going with Colonel Nathan Jessup (A Few Good Men), if you can call him a villain.  He does what he believes to be right, no matter the consequences.  And, arguably, his goal was right, even if his methods may be questionable.

If I were to be a villain, I'd have to go with the operative. Almost completely unemotional. Willing to do whatever was necessary to complete his goal.

(I'd love to say Sephiroth, but even as a villain I couldn't be that nuts/evil/ruthless.)

Danny Ocean is not a villian. He's the Hero. It doesn't matter that what he's doing is illegal. In that movies POV he's the good guy.

No one's mentioned the Draka (http://www.amazon.com/Domination-S-M-Stirling/dp/0671577948).  Charming and cultured, most of them, most of the time.  But then one will offhand offer to kill a troublesome serf for you.  Their armies are "notoriously atrocity prone".

Then there's Zhu Yuan-Coyotl (http://books.google.com/books?id=UcPsbca_C5EC&pg=PA346&lpg=PA346&dq=zhu+yuan+coyotl&source=bl&ots=mXVu8o4iBj&sig=4VFmwmdbguxIS8GLVqEGsLJQvY4&hl=en&ei=dBDZTsipJ-m02gWOt-HIDg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CB0Q6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=zhu%20yuan%20coyotl&f=false), the Incarnate Sun, ruler of the Han Meshica.

A small list:

Movies:
William Foster (Michael Douglas from Falling Down)
Bane (from the comics and hopefully Dark Knight Rises, not the abomination from Batman and Robin)
A xenomorph (from Aliens, and only on really bad days)

Books:
Capt. Beatty (from Fahrenheit 451)

As far as historical figures go, I'd have to think about it a while longer. Time for bed.

I think the word villain suggests more of a criminal mastermind than a henchman. Of course, Angel Eyes (one of my picks) was also a bounty hunter, but he was the chief antagonist of the film.

Obviously Hefner is poisoning our fair-eyed culture.   ;)

I don't know what you mean by "fair-eyed," but if you think he isn't poisoning our culture, you're looking the other way. As he said, he has "changed the social and sexual values" of our culture. And not in a good way.

I don't know what you mean by "fair-eyed," but if you think he isn't poisoning our culture, you're looking the other way. As he said, he has "changed the social and sexual values" of our culture. And not in a good way.

Now that is a matter of perspective.

Jamie B has it right: Looney Tunes' Tasmanian Devil.

Now, the villain that I always LIKED was the Dragon Lady from Terry and the Pirates.

I was either born with, or the Dragon lady infected me with, a permanent case of "yellow fever."

Not sure I'd reveal an actual resemblance to a fictional villain.

If I get to chose one to resemble, I'll take Mr. Kobayashi.

Wait a minute - Gowen, who's Cruella here? Mabs?

Fistful and Micro, you are NOT allowed to turn a fun thread about villains into a debate about morality. Geesh, don't you two ever get enough?

I think I'd have to with Heath Ledgers Joker. >:D Especially on days where I experience or hear about a lot of stupidity in the day and think the world is just screwed.

INTJ here, too. Would probably have to go with Hannibal Lecter. I share an extreme dislike of folks who are impertinent, rude, or discourteous. My frustrations don't quite manifest in the same way Lecter's do, though... =D

Are there any good INTP villains?  maybe Professor Moriarty?

If I had to choose?  Lord Vetinari.

Vetinari makes Machiavelli look like a rube.

I don't see Vetenari as a villain, though.

Hmm...I'm 50/50 on I/E, but 99 percentile on NTJ...so maybe I'm my own super villain
