How many years did Bush/Cheney serve, again?

Bush flew the F-102 in the Texas Air National Guard.

F-102s are dangerous as hell, and flying one is as dangerous as serving as an infantryman in Vietnam.

Wright was not an infantryman, if NPR is to be believed.  He was in some CSS position.

Wright also served 6 years in the Marine Corps.  How many years did Bush/Cheney serve, again?   I forget.........

Yeah, and?  I served 5 and never recieved incoming fire.  Being a short term enlisted person gives Wright no more credibility than Bush, Obama, Hillary, or any of 'em.

They just showed video from one of his appearances earlier today, in which he said that Michelle Obama would be "the first black woman to sleep at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue legally."

That's not offensive?
Think that's an attempt at a Clinton joke. Or a jab against Condi. Or something mysterious. This white devil ain't positive.

Oh, bother.  Now we're going to ban wooderson because he asked some stupid questions and refuses to acknowledge simple realities?  Come on.  Look at what he's reduced to here.  Laugh at him.  Don't ban him.

Agreed.  We need another "village idiot" or two.  I can't do it all.

Wooderson, thanks for the entertainment.  Your "more objective than thou" act often works quite well.  But this time it's just not gonna play.  This guy's church is also a weekly political rally, and one to which Obama has given clear approval.  So Wright doesn't need to formulate policy for the Obama White House.  He already has, for the past twenty years.  Contrast that with John McCain, who has a history of denouncing the Religious Right, and then in an election year decided to make nice.  Oh, wait, you already failed at that.

You think Marine Corp service would be a good thing in a president?  You're crazier than I thought.   laugh

Marine Corps service?

At this point, with his followup appearances at the national Press Club and other venues much in the news, I have to wonder if this isn't in reality an attempt to sabotage Obama's run, Chicago-style. Please pass the popcorn.

The man has gone from a small-time, if rich black-separatist pottymouth screecher to the keynote speaker at the NAACP and a darling of the national media. He's got an upcoming book he's hawking, is already rich, and stands to become far richer.

I think his agenda is pretty clear. It's himself.

Lee Harvey Oswald served in the military, too. We all know how patriotic he turned out to be...

So, the overriding point of Rev. Wright's military service is?

Wooderson is using a rhetorical tactic that annoys the heck out of me:  Seeking to define every term used.  Diogenes used it well, but history seems to agree that Diogenes was an asshat.  In modern use I've found that it's usually deployed to do any or all of three things:

1.  Delay actual debate of substance.
2.  Divert the debate away from something that one knows nothing about.
3.  Divert the debate away from something that is contradictory to ones initial assertion.

Regardless, it almost always serves to beclown the person who uses it.

The ultimate example of which is the Clintonesque what the definition of 'is' is?  I have now read the penultimate example on this forum:

I wonder just what Wright is up to.  His most recent performance is nothing more than gasoline thrown on a fire.  O'Bama says he and Wright are buds.  If so why is Wright doing things designed to sink O'Bama's run?  Is this an attempt to break it off in a spectacular manner?  O'Bama has consistently soft peddled Wrights beliefs yet when given half a chance he demonstrates his full throated racism.  How will that help O'Bama?  In any case I just read a Hillary supporter organized Wright's latest speech.  You just gotta admire good work.

Wright's gravy train would have stopped if Obama had kept up trying to make race a nonissue (despite the fact that he's a scary marxist socialist, he wasn't so much of a Race Card instaplayer).

Wright only continues to make money if he can convince people that it's still 1960, and that hate and rage is okay, and Whitey is keeping the Black Man oppressed.

If people realize things like that we have a black Supreme Court Justice, black Secretary of State, and that a well-educated black person can go anywhere they want in a career now, well...his game is over.

I usually think of defining terms as a good thing, although you may be correct.  I think his tactic in this thread is more akin to sticking his fingers in his ears, and yelling loud inanities.  Is there a fancy, Latin name for that?

In any case, I can't help but laugh at the way he is humiliating himself over this "non-issue."

I'm sure Wright making fun of JFK's accent is going to go over really well.

I just heard (on a radio show) Wright's pathetic little jab at Kennedy's accent, and the way he said "ask."  So, I Youtubed the inauguration speech.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3s6U8GActdQ  Starting at about four minutes, Kennedy says "ask" several times.  All sounded perfectly clear to me.  Coming from the mid-west, I find a New England accent just as funny as the next guy.  But whatever Kennedy's accent may have been, he was speaking clearly at that point.

Pathetic, Wright, just pathetic.

Anyway, if wooderson pops back in, somebody give me a call.  I'll be at the Westboro Baptist Church all week.

Not that I hate homosexuals, or anything.  Not that I'm a hyper-Calvinist-sicko or anything.  Not that I think God is America's terrorist or anything.  I'll just happen to be there, despite having no agreement with the more extreme viewpoints expressed.  I can trust you all not to jump to conclusions, I hope.

You can serve your country in the military and be a racist idiot at the same time.
