Beers, Lagers, Pilsners, Ales, Stouts, Meads, Porters...????

I've had never had a sip of alcohol until a few weeks ago. I never drank out of fear of inheriting that good ol' fashioned family disease of being an AA contributee. Anyway, I decided I'd rather not die having 'avoided' all the things in life I was afraid of, and tried a glass of red wine. Pretty nasty. Tried a sam adam's light, also pretty nasty. Then found I could tolerate a corona with a lime pretty well. So-so.

Finally, a few nights ago while out with my sister and some of her friends, I tried a Blue Moon with a nice bit of orange in it. It was very pleasant and smooth. Not at all bitter and didn't make my face cringe. Saw that it's a wheat ale, and so am going to try some more along that alley. Hopefully I'm not a raging alcoholic in a few years like I always feared, haha. Wait thats not funny....

Nobody has mentioned Pilsner Urquell from the Czech Republic. It is what a Bud would be if it died and went to heaven. BudVar is pretty good also. My spelling is crappy as I have had a few tonight.

Pete, what's BudVar?

My dad helped a guy who was defecting from the now-defunct Czechoslavakia.
Knowing he was on the way out, the guy ordered a boat-load of PU on the Czech embassy account, and used it to throw "thank-you parties" for all the FBI agents who had helped him throughout the process.

Fig, I may have the spelling wrong but I thought BudVar was the name that Czech Budwieser was forced to use in the US. I have only seen it once.I have had czech Rebel beer which was good but the Pilsner Urquell tastes the best.

I would like to visit the Czech republic. They brew great beer, make great guns(CZs of course) and there are some hot babes that have come out of there.

Anything Samuel Smith

Taddy porter
Nut brown ale
Oatmeal stout

I've recently developed a taste for Belgian ale

Madred Sous is really good especially out of a wine glass

If I'm in Mayberry, RFD, where can I buy Samuel Smiths?
Am I going to have to make a run "to town" 6 months early just to buy it? Wink

You might, but it's worth it.  Especially for the Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout.

Guinness, Yuengling, Shiner Bock and whatever the local microbrew has on tap get the nod from me. Smiley
