Title: Is APS on Zulu time?
Post by: Fly320s on March 08, 2005, 10:53:41 AM
Looks like the APS time is 5 hours ahead of east coast time.

********Disregard... found the right buttons to push********

Nothing to see here.  Move along.

Yes.

The military uses the term "Zulu time", I believe.  If I had to guess I would guess it is so they can coordinate operations across time zones without worrying about "Is that 2300 hours my time or 2300 hours your time?"

As usual, wikipedia has great articles on the subject.  Everything you ever wanted to know about time:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_zones
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coordinated_Universal_Time
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenwich_Mean_Time
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time
There's a semantic difference between GMT and UTC, but I don't think anyone really cares these days.
