Title: There may be a slight delay in your Amazon shipment
Post by: WLJ on November 25, 2022, 08:47:46 AM
Black Friday strike at several warehouses over working conditions.
Includes protests at one of Jeff B's homes in NY. Safe bet he's not even there.

The initiative, promoted by groups on Twitter under #MakeAmazonPay listed the industrial action planned in the 40 countries across the globe.

Employees at a company workhouse in St Peters, Missouri, will today stop work as part of the protests and Whole Foods stores owned by Amazon will also take labor actions. Strike action will also take place in Bessemer, Alabama; Columbia, Maryland; Detroit, Michigan; Durham, North Carolina; Garner ; Joliet, Illinois; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Portland, Oregon; and Washington, D.C.

Wow, didn't know this

The report released said: 'Amazon employed one-third of all warehouse workers in the U.S., but it was responsible for nearly one-half (49%) of all injuries in the warehouse industry.'

Alexa, When will my package arrive?
Alexa: Hahahhahahahahhahaha

A workhouse? Mr. Scrooge will be glad to know they're still in operation.

I did. Did you also notice the part about warehouse workers being timed for how long they take on bathroom breaks?

Ever notice how most things bought from Amazon are rattling around in a box that's really much too large with the item(s)? They're also timed on how long it takes them to retrieve each item, and the packers are timed on how long it takes to pack each box. They don't have time to pick what they think will be the best fit and then find out it's a quarter of an inch too small in one dimension, so they grab a box they KNOW it will fit in, toss in a couple of plastic pillows, and call it good.

I would never want to work in an Amazon warehouse.

Already knew knew about the timed bathroom breaks. Been reports of workers on the line peeing into bottles for a while.

OK, just checked, and it looks as if both of my outstanding orders made it to the shipping stream before this crap started, so I should be good!

An order (a CPU) that were suppose to here today and I needed to be here today hasn't even shipped yet. Someone must be taking an extra long bathroom break.

If Mom doesn't get her gift-wrapped Amazon delivery by Thursday, I will retaliate by letting my dog out the next few times they're in my 'hood.

I ordered a smallish HEPA air filter unit for my living room.

It was supposed to be here next Tuesday.

Status update says it will be here today.

At least they know how to consolidate shipments, unlike SO MANY gov't vendors.

My air cleaner came yesterday afternoon.

Seems to do a nice job, and it's quiet.

My CPU order which was suppose to be here yesterday still doesn't show shipped despite showing in stock the whole time. So something hanging things up at the warehouse.

I ordered several things getting shipped to people as xmas presents over the last few days, and I'm getting notices (including a couple just now) that they are all shipping with their stated delivery date.

I have two orders outstanding.  One is shipped and one isn't.  The one that shipped is the one I want sooner.  The other is for Christmas so no hurry.

I got a Bug-A-Salt as a B-day gift this year.  They are fun.  You just run out of bugs too quick.  I was happy to see they are fairly effective against wasps also.

Ordered some various camera gear for a Santa gig... Amazon is under promising, and overdelivering, at least in the metro... Stuff that was supposed to be here tomorrow got delivered this morning.

BTW, if anyone is in St. Louis, the Civil Life Brewery in Tower Grove South is hosting Santa Shenanigans on December 10...

I've also gotten several things a day or more early in the last week.

Bonus, they are finally offering decent incentives for "no rush" delivery. I've had several "$4 digital credits" already.
