Ya'll must have different logo than I do.

I have Barbara in a Bikini  in the upper left of my screen.

Kidding. If it is not broke, don't fix it.

I find it interesting and quite different from what most forums have.

Oleg...Oleg, where is he?

Umm...could you again clarify just what the heck that is?

I know for sure it is NOT a 28 ga shell in a SxS   Smiley

I suggest a photo of a badger.  Maybe a badger holding an M16.Cheesy

The current picture is badgerless.

It needs to be changed to include a badger.

Over here the really mean gophers have red noses. And if hit properly with a 22-250, they kind of turn inside out, then they are all red.

Now, to the logo........why?

I'd be glad to suggest a few pictures, but I would need someone to explain how to do so.
Here's how to post pics on APS (remove quotes)

Stickjockey,

I like that!

Am I the only one getting an urge to read again  "The Honey Badger" by Robert Ruark with all of El Tejon's references?

I will make a new header graphic as soon as I have a chance. I work 60-70hrs/week and go to grad school. Time is scarce. Need time for the ideas, though I think I have one that might work. Got to do something for other THR folks' project first though (yes, Jim, I am still on it!)

The current picture shows a Grease gun. I wanted it to be generic, not a particular rifle.

Honey Badger -- great book.

The current picture had for months registered on my unconscious mind as some kind of microphone.  Until one day it bubbled up into my conscious, and I wondered, "Why is there a picture of a microphone at the top of Armed Polite Society?"  I then took a real close look, and finally realized that it's a closeup of what appears to be the ejection port of a gun.

I knew it was a grease gun!!  I get a prize, right?

Aside from fistful, who's just being a curmudgeon, I don't think any of us feel it's necessary for you to take time out of your busy schedule to create a new graphic for us.  You've already done enough, what with creating, managing, and hosting these boards for our use.

So, thanks for everything you've done, and don't waste your time on a new logo for this site.  If fistful wants a new pic, he can get up off his lazy bum and make one himself.

Ya'll call yourself gun folk, and you couldn't figure what it was? For shame. Tongue

How about a picture of some nice shiny ammo, maybe some different calibers? None of that ugly mil-surp stuff. Polished cases, and visually interesting bullets, like HP rounds.

Ooooo, how about the above mentioned purty cases, but spent. One looking freshly fired. Blackened at the top, a little wisp of smoke curling out. Put the APS title on the bottom, have the backdrop be a solid white, change the page's background so the color around the picture matches the backdrop, making it seamless.

Oh, wait! How about the above, but with a close up of the bottom of the case, with it digitally edited to appear as if "Armed Polite Society" is stamped there, instead of caliber, etc.

Dammit, we can't have topics that make my imagination work. I'm bad enough at procrastinating on work I should be doing without picking up time-burnin' hobbies like photography! Cheesy

How about we have a contest or somethin'? Guidelines for the graphic are given, and whoever wants to submits entries on a thread. Either Mr. Volk decides the winner, or we all take a vote. Sounds like fun.

How about something that isn't gun specific...

"Armed" doesn't necessarily mean "gun".  If that's the only way you're "armed", then you have a very narrow perspective.

Heck, it doesn't even have to mean "weapon".  We're a general discussion forum, "armed" can be extended to our wits, our debating ability.

Actually, it's an illustration from "Wind in the Willows." I tried to find one of him with a pistol stuck in his belt, but no joy.

For me, that image suggests a weapon ready for action, but not in use. This seems appropriate to me in a community founded on responsible firearms ownership and intelligent, civil discourse; it is suitable to those who "get it".

Yeah, that's what I was getting at with this whole thread.  The idea that I was demanding a photoshoot from Oleg, with a portfolio of photos for my consideration, is just wierd.  It's also weird to be called a curmudgeon for suggesting change.  I am a curmudgeon, but not this time.

As I tried to point out, I would love to submit a few pictures for consideration, but I don't know how to post graphics on threads.  I'm not sure I understand Werewolf's instructions, but I will give it a try:
Well, shazam!  But what if I want to post a picture that's in my hard-drive, but I don't know where to find it online?

I really appreciate all your time, expense and efforts, again I thank you.

What do I care the rest have no idea of what we are speaking of ?  They will *grin*

Yes I may call upon you again, as we shared, we share some common interests.

Humm...

Until then how about you assist me in a APS contest?

Barbara - where are you?  We need your permisson please.

See Barbara did a self portrait of herself in a bikini - I propose Barbara post it, and the deal is Barbara is carrying concealed.

But how?

I mean one cannot get more "Armed" and "Polite" that a lady in a Bikini CCW-ing now can one?

So I need backers and supporters...real curious how many hits on APS site meter that gets...

I am not bad - just consistent.
