Title: Speaking of stereotypical stuff
Post by: Lee on June 07, 2013, 06:26:58 PM
On the way home from a really bad week at work, I got a sudden urge to run into a quicky mart for beer and a snack. Walked out with two 20fo oz cans of Colt 45 and a big bag of hot and spicy pork rinds. Good stuff.

Of course not. I cashed them wheels for scrap.

But where are you gonna put the spinner rims so they blow in the wind? Gotta pimp the house out right

The little plastic garden sunflower pinwheels are lined up where the wheels used to be.  But you have to walk around the old Firebird up on blocks to see them.

Lately the color of my face alternates between tan, bright red, and pale...some days every hour or so.

You know, the cool thing is that 48 oz's of beer and a half day's worth of calories was only 4 bucks and some change. I'm thinking I shoulda picked up a pack of squares while I was there.

PS
When I was a barracks dwelling jarhead, we would drink 40's of malt liquor frequently.

I heard Mayor Bloomberg wants to make a law against that.  Think of the salt, the nitrites, the belching in public, the children!

So, I'm ignorant about stereotypes - is 40's of malt liquor associated with a particular group? Poor whites? Poor blacks? Poor everybody? ???

The high alcohol content, large serving size, and low price made them popular in urban black neighborhoods- which wasn't lost on the marketing/sales types, who started using black actors and singers to advertise their products. Ridiculous really. I buy Colt 45 every once in awhile. I like the taste and the higher alcohol content. There are much more expensive European types of malted beers, which I buy from time to time. They taste better for sure, but at a much much higher price.

City of Milwaukee tried (don't know if it ever passed) to ban the sale of large containers of malt liquor. Also tried to ban the sale of beer in anything larger than 16 ounce containers.

The logic was that someone buying a 32 ounce bottle of beer or malt liquor was doing so to get drunk. The city council figured that people who bought 32 ounce bottles would never think of buying a six-pack of 12 ounce cans or bottles, and so they wouldn't get drunk.  ;/

Too close to the truth to be funny.

Isn't malt liquor what's left over after they make beer?

stay safe.

I'm now craving a malt liquor, which I haven't had since High School. I'm thinking they probably tasted better then than one will now.

I thought that was Vegamite!!   =D

Malt liquor is just a beer made with cheaper ingredients, like rice, dextrose, and corn, IIRC.

I'm not sure how the fine brewers of Colt 45 do it, but tradional malt liqueur is fermented from the bottom, roasted malt gives it flavor, and extra sugar/grain raises the alcohol content. Just like a Cadillac, it was intended for gentlemens.

Had some barley wine a while back.  Good stuff and the first ale/lager where I could taste/smell the alcohol.

Barleywine is good stuff.  Meant to be sipped, not quaffed.
