Title: "Gym Creep" Videos
Post by: Ben on February 21, 2023, 08:24:29 AM
Youtube has been pushing these "gym creep" videos on me. There are actually no creeps, it's youtube and tiktok women recording in the gym, and accusing innocent guys of being creepers and trying to get the guys in trouble. The below is a good example of what goes on. Some guy is sitting in the background, and the girl with the camera, or the girl in the forefront that she's filming, does something, like bang weights, that would make anyone look in the direction of the noise, then they do a, "Got him!" because a guy looked in their direction.

Not to mention the girls that dress like they're auditioning for a porn video, then get upset if a guy looks their way. I'm glad I don't go to the gym anymore. It would be a lousy time trying to spend more time making sure my eyes didn't look in the wrong direction than I spent working out. Seems to me that back when I did go to the gym, it would be more likely that the person with the camera would be asked to leave than any of the people they were recording.

My wife goes to the local Y, and they ask that your cell phones be left in the car or your locker.  If it looks as if you are filming inside, you are asked to leave.

From some of the videos that I've watched, it appears more gyms are going a similar route, which is refreshingly surprising to me. Though it appears some of the reasoning is because these people take so much time filming themselves that nobody else can use the equipment.

Someone should start a men only gym.

...can you imagine the outrage?  Never mind that there are women only gyms.

One of the guys I really felt bad for was the old fella at 0:34 here:

When I was going to the gym, it was not uncommon to see elderly people, both men and women, dressed like that and often sitting at a machine for a while. Sometimes they were just taking really long rests between sets because, well, they're elderly. Also, because I'm not a self-centered sociopath and often said hello to them, I often found that these were people who wanted to get out of the house, get a little exercise, and just be around people because they were lonely.

That they would be attacked as "creeps" is just disgusting.
