Non-Google, non-Apple phones?

For those of us who aren't phone phreaks or Silicon Valley wizards, what are good alternatives that avoid entanglement with Alphabet, and other villains? Are Apple phones the way to go, or Linux? Something else? Qanonymous Phone Company?
