Add me to the list of people who thinks we should just eliminate DST. It doesn't "save" any daylight. (1) Originally it was supposed to be to accommodate farmers, which I could never understand. Farmers have alarm clocks. If they want to get up with the sun, they can just set their clocks accordingly.
(2)Then it was "for the children" -- something about keeping kids safe while waiting at stops for the school bus.
(3)And then it was about saving energy. That didn't make any sense to me, either.
Just get rid of it.
(1) As you said, it did nothing for farmers.
(2) If you want to protect children, stop having school start so early in the morning!
(3) It doesn't save energy. As I recall, it uses more, as people run air conditioning/heating longer as a result.
Not, stay on DST. At no point in the year does it ever feel correct. Move back to standard time, for the whole year. Businesses can adjust their hours accordingly.
(Also, stop making me wake up at 5 in the morning in the dark to be up at "6 a.m." to get anything done in my garden/yard before work.)
