Hardline Iranians give Obama a warm welcome
« on: January 13, 2009, 04:27:59 PM »
In their traditional manner.

Quote
Hardline demonstrators burn posters of U.S. President-elect Barack Obama, during a demonstration in support of the people of Gaza, in front of the Swiss Embassy in Tehran January 13, 2009.

They're such NICE people. They show you they like you by burning your picture and beating an effigy of you in the street!

Shoe soles beaten against this also?
Funny how it is not sized so small that it will not work as a new desktop.

Yes, it would be extremely impolite. Take this as a warning...

Would it be impolite to suggest the sands of their homeland should be converted to glass?

It's the nuts and the president, not all Iranians. Some would like nothing better than to have a secular republic with Dubai money pouring in.

There's one question I have with this. This isn't done with government funding from the top, there?

If the people are having a hard time affording bread, how are they buying large cloth screenprints to burn? And who is producing them? Those aren't exactly cheap, I get them for tradeshows!

I seriously wonder if Obama can handle being burned in effigy.  (or is that burned in photography?)  I actually think it will shake him up, if the rest of the Middle East reacts to him this way, and put him in full sympathy/appeasement mode.

Or am I being goofier than usual?  ???
