Title: Dog tick bite - serious?
Post by: Nick1911 on April 12, 2021, 12:27:53 AM
I plan to take her to the vet tomorrow regardless, but I'd like the APS opinion on this one.

It's tick season in the midwest, and my dog is a mop for them.  I pulled a tick off of her Friday evening, and noticed some serious irritation around that bite.  Unusual for her, tick bites don't create this kind of irritation.  She gets plenty of ticks throughout the season - just today she was outside with us all day today, and picked up about 10 ticks.

Anyway, it's now Sunday, and this is what the questionable bite looks like:

Critical, Concerning, or Probably fine?

Concerning. Something to be definitely shared with your vet.

Do you know what tick you pulled off?

Both Lyme and Leptospirosis can be serious. Get some antibiotics from your vet ASAP.
