I wonder if the USDA may have learned something from the Bundy event. Or maybe they are getting reports of stalking.

Sub guns? How gauche, all the tackytool agencies have moved on to short ARs. Between that and spec it in .40 short and weak instead of a normal sub gun cartridge, I think someone there is living in the 1980's.

I couldn't recall what law enforcement tasks fall under Dept. of Ag.  Last contact I had with anyone from that agency, it was the Inspector General, dealing with food stamp fraudulent sales.  Checking out their web page, it looks like the Forest Service falls under Dept. of Ag.  While I may consider a sub-gun useful in an urban environment, lord knows I would want something more than a .40 sub-gun for wilderness/forest service use...

Yup; sounds like an ideal environment for one of the AK-based bullpups.  Big enough bullet for feral hogs, most bears, etc.  Long enough range to reach out to a threat at a distance, and still small enough to carry easily even in heavy brush.

This crap needs to end.  The only civilian fed.gov agency that can or should have ANY firearms is the FBI.

No need.  Expand USMS's duties to include armed babysitting of all the other Fed agencies when they're legitimately doing something too dangerous for a purely unarmed approach, then disarm all of the others.

I'm fine with KD5NRH's suggestion.    There is simply no reason for the Dept of Ed, Dept of Ag, Dept of Commerce (Since they don't have USCG, Border Patrol or Customs) anymore nor any other agency to have any firearms.  FBI and USMS.  Secret Service but only to protect the President and Vice President.

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

I've been saying for a long time that one way to help the .gov budget is to eliminate a lot of this investigatory redundancy...each department does not need a law enforcement unit.  Every one has them.  Get rid of them all, expand the FBI as necessary, keep the Marshall's Service for their duties, keep the Secret Service for executive protection duties.  Hell, for that matter, get rid of State's Diplomatic Security branch and put that under Secret Service jurisdiction.  Cut out a lot of administrative costs, a lot of ancillary costs (separate badges and identifying costs, simplified weapons and ammunition purchasing, etc.) and streamline the chain of command.

They're too busy chasing hookers anyways.

Disband the SS.  Put the LEO side under the FBI. Put the protection side under the USMS.  *expletive deleted*it, make the USMS a division of the FBI while you're at it.

Is it possible there's a benefit to having a few (not as many as now, but a few) fed.gov enforcement agencies w/ firearms? Sort of a checks and balances on each other thing? Just idle theorizing. I don't recall hearing about the FBI and DEA (for example) counterbalancing each other, though.  ???

Interesting Dept of Justice breakdown of Federal law enforcement officers:

the only thing I can come up with for a reason here, is that the USDA is getting ready for armed confrontation with farmers or other producers.  USDA also ordered a lot of ballistic vests.
Just don't see the need for armed agents in every Federal agency.  Heck, even the Department of Education has full auto weapons and SWAT teams.  Geez.

I, for one, am outraged at this latest development. I never expected that an enormous agency of the federal government, tasked with myriad responsibilities including enforcement of lawful federal regulations, would have any need, at any point ever, for (gasp!) FIREARMS! Clearly this is evidence of one of Barack **HUSSEIN** Obama's latest schemes to oppress the small farmers of America with jack booted thugs wielding high-clip rapidfire assault machineguns in the dreaded ultra-deadly 40 caliber (for God's sake, they are probably even using exploding-tip talon shredder Hollow Points), in order to enact his socialist tyrannical agenda. Why else would agents need the unrestricted and hyperoppressive firepower that is offered by the .40 Caliber Submachineguns used by our governments?? They probably even have the shoulder thing that goes up, which as we all know, can anywhere from double to quadruple the oppression capacity of a Forty Caliber Assault Machinegun.

DHS buying flesh-shredder hollow points and now this. It's clear that the grand HUSSEIN Obama oppression scheme is right around the corner.

There is no reason that a federal agency which was tasked by Congress with creating and enforcing lawful regulations should EVER HAVE GUNS EVER. There is no reason that federal officials would EVER conceivably have a need for firearms in the course of their regulatory enforcement duties. I mean, I think we can all agree there are some places GUNS JUST DON'T BELONG-- Like, why would you ever take a gun with you to CHURCH. You're never going to need a gun in church. I mean, I support the Second Amendment and everything, but come on, there is no reason you should ever take a gun to CHURCH. Or schools. Or college campuses. Or all public parks. Or libraries. USDA agents are supposed to be doing agricultural stuff or something. So of course they should never have guns.
