Looks pleasant to shoot.

When you absolutely, positively want to blind everyone in the room (and also cover everything in sooty little bits of unburned propellant).

At some point you are transitioning from killing a big animal with a big bullet to scaring a big animal with a huge muzzle blast and flash.
I didn't see any mention of velocities with that snubby.

You could probably throw the thing faster than the bullet will exit the bore.

It actually seems to be a good deal larger than my first image would indicate. Looks to be about the overall size of my 5" barrel .45 Vaquero.

It's just a BFR with a contoured cylinder and a foot less barrel.

Look about 2/3 of the way down the article:

No thank you, the .454 Casull slaps hard enough. Still have your big bore?

624 is gone, but I still have the Redhawk and SBH
-
I like it!!!
It would make for a very interesting caliber matching set, a Sharps and the pistol. Maybe go modern and get a Marlin Guide Gun in 45-70 to go with it.

Energy looks kinda .44 mag-ish, but with a cooler name.

What sort of .44 mag loads are you creating?
-
I'll pass on this - I just don't like the grips on a single action revolver when it comes to something with heavy recoil; I manage much better with the grips on a DA revolver, be it S&W or Ruger.
-

None, I only have 1 .44 and don't shoot it enough to reload for it. Just went to Wiki and looked. ME ranged from 741 ft-lb (240gr@1180FPS) to 1533 ft-lb (340gr@1425FPS) with the middle ground loads being 1100-1200ish ft-lbs. We have now exhausted my knowledge of .44 mag ballistics.

That is better than I thought it would be. I guess the barrel is not as short as some of the snubby revolvers. Maybe it looks worse in comparison to the length of the cartridge.

Bond Arms at one time made a 45-70 derringer. Remember seeing a youtube video where each shot was followed by a bunch of obscenities
-
Is it an optical illusion or is the cylinder longer than the barrel?
-
How much blue dot can we shove in the case? Always seemed to be the go to powder with 10mm if you wanted to set the indoor range on fire.
-

Looks like it.

My favorite line from the article:
And I went into this knowing that the levels of recoil with heavy loads would be memorable, if not downright 'educational.'
-
Watched a gun show before switching over to launch coverage this afternoon. They had the short barrel 1895 in .45-70 in the dark series it would be a great pair.
-

They are about the same; not sure which is longer. Part of it might be an optical illusion because where the barrel where is screwed into the frame it's obscured but it still counts. .45-70 brass is just over 2 inches long, plus the bullet.

One of my favorite guns to shoot is my Marlin 1895 Guide gun in 45-70. It's never fails to put a smile on my face with Buffalo Bore or Grizzly loads. My wallet is crying though at $3-4 blown with every pull of the trigger with those loads.
-
I cast and roll my own so I could shoot it a little cheaper. I just don't have the cash to get one.

As an unnamed amateur ballistician once remarked, "If the gun weighed the same as the bullet, it would be just as deadly to the shooter as the shootee."
I guess we're getting closer to that nowadays.
I'm not signing this one so I can remain unnamed.

If anything gets me back into reloading it's 45-70.
In the meantime a gun shop here was closing a while back and I bought most of their left over 45-70 ammo stock real cheap. Got enough to last awhile plus I'll have a bunch of brass for if or when I get back into reloading.
-
If you do reload 45-70 be aware that Hornady Leverevolution brass is cut a touch shorter than normal. Due to the flex tip bullet they use they had to shorten the brass to keep the overall length the same as normal 45-70 ammo.
