You don't see Congressmen in Popeye's restaurants very often.

I imagine that has a lot to do with either the local manager or the building management of the larger building they are in.  Once you get a couple rats, it doesn't take long to get more if you don't do anything about it......just like Congressmen.

I can't stand Popeye's fried chicken. Tastes gross and nasty.

Their red beans and rice, however?

That's some good *expletive deleted*it!

The only place I've ever had it was on-post at Fort Lee, VA. I was underwhelmed. Rat content unknown.

Now you know why it tastes nasty and you may be closer to the truth than you'd like to be about their red beans and rice. =D
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

I have not had Popeye's chicken in years; the nearest one I think is in Minneapolis, and it's not worth the drive.  From what I remember, it was pretty good but not great; about the same as KFC extra crispy if you added just a little cayenne.  And the sides were better than the chicken.

Hy-Vee (MN and IA grocery chain) sell their own version of spicy fried chicken, and it's better than Popeye's or KFC when you get a fresh bucket.  KFC is better if Hy-Vee is having a bad day.

Hey, when did they start using brown rice in the red beans and rice?

Uh... that's not rice...

I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Nothing will ever beat Roy Rogers fried chicken in its heydays back in the 1970s and 1980s.
